cork sheet and scenery question

hi everyone

my mainlines are down and they run on cork strip, roughly track width,  which is a standard approach i have seen used a lot.

my 2 yards will lay on large cork sheets - because i dont want a ballast shoulder on these sidings.

my query is how easy is it to add roads / paving / cobles / tarmac / concrete surfaces etc. to cork sheet? will i need to add card strips to it first? some buildings will also sit on the cork.

does anyone know if you can you use 'smooth it' or similar filler or plaster directly on to cork?

just checking this out before i glue any cork sheet down...
