Something I have been pondering for a while....

Within a single manufacturer...do they use the same size/power motor for all locos? or is it governed by available space? or is it related to the power that the original provided?

Basically is it the same motor in my Castle Class as a pannier tank?

Governed by space inside the model, though you'd expect a manufacturer to select from a range of motors of which they have experience and for which they  have or can get good supplies.

I'm ready to stand corrected, but I'm certain that the choice of electric motor used in a model locomotive is in no way related to the power of the prototype.
