Surprised this hasn't been mentioned before, but is anyone taking up the RMWeb Gold Subscription offer???

https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/143518-rmweb-gold-a-new-premium-membership/

Don't you dare get any chuffing ideas @Tank

If you don't take up their Subscription offer you won't get access to any BRM Archive material or be allowed to sell anything in their Classified area. It looks like they're combining Digital Magazine Subscription and RMWeb access.

As I only 'browse' RMWeb these days, when I can get my head around the new Forum Layout  :confused1: :confused1: I don't think I'll be taking up their 'kind' offer.

Cheers

I do not think that the introduction of Gold takes away anything from the existing free membership. The existing BRM magazine subscription, either direct or through Pocketmags does not include access to the archive.  The RmWeb Gold membership provides full access to 12 years' worth of back numbers including the latest editions. In that respect it is like subscriptions to Railway Modeller/Continental Modeller, who use the same provider for the Archive (Exact Editions).

Yep, as said, you don't currently get access to the classifieds (there aren't any anymore) or the archive, so it's moot. In fact it's better, because 'normal' members will be able to buy through the classifieds, just not sell, so you'll have access to the listings.

I'm a member of another forum which has a 'premier' membership, it's £1.50 a month, means no adverts, access to magazine archive etc. Personally for me the RMWeb gold membership is too expensive for the benefits it offers. I've no issue with it though, I'm amazed at the handwringing on there about it. You certainly get a prominent marker on your profile to show you've paid up!

My experience with RMweb is not similar to the negative impressions mentioned here.
Certainly my "go to place" for anything technical.
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

It's ironic people complaining RMWeb has too many sub forums on a forum which not only has a sub-forum for every conceivable topic, but then one for each letter of the alphabet in case you couldn't decide!  ;D

The new layout isn't fundamentally different. They've even changed the View New Content function to work the same way it used to.
