Murray Ball, creator of Footrot Flats, died today.
Love his cartoons and comic strips.

I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

That's sad.  During my time in Port Moresby, Footrot Flats was regular cartoon strip in the daily paper.  Also have a couple of his compilation books.  Great humour and insight into farming life and human nature - and dog nature :-)
