You generate an STL file with 3D cad tools, upload it, order it and 3 weeks later a chap from UPS hands you a box.

It's a very large topic and Shapeways have lots of info and forum materials. Don't expect it to be easy either - but its an effort that pays off once you start creating stuff. I've been poking around at it for a few months producing coaches and other bits. I don't think at this point  I could produce Paul's underground stock though - some tricky shapes there.

Hmmm been looking it up seems the kit comes in 3 parts and you buy this tram and fit the motor chasis to the tube body. Think when my main layout board is done I will give this a whirl. Do you have any pics of your projects mate

I have 4 out of 6 cars (plus the kato tram chassis) sitting in the gloat box at the moment. I must get round to ordering the last 2 cars with my next Shapeways order.

To order it you literally just place the order with Shapeways like a normal shop and it is printed to demand.

You get a body, chassis (easy push fit) and bogie side frames.  You need to supply the chassis (I got mine for cheap from Ebay), wheels and bearings (from Parkside Dundas - details are on Paul's Shapeways page).

Cheers, Mike
