Someone mentioned in the angry thread that we should have a medical thread and as nothing has happened and I have just got out of hospital ___here goes.
I have just got out as I said following a bout of celulitis. Just before we left home to come on  our annual jaunt to India my GP changed my blood pressure pills which, combined with the heat caused my legs to swell so when I got a small cut on my foot this provided a happy hunting ground for the bacteria hence the cellulitis.
Fridaymorn up like lark lunchtime still ok but rigbt leg felt tight   thought it was just the swelling so sat with feet in the pool. Evening ant after a G & T laid on the bed (just theone honest) in a very short time was shivering and temp had gone through the roof. SWMBO took me  next door to the local hospital. They diagnosed problem and put me on IV antibiotics. Next day SWMBO contacted insurance who were very helpful at first, then said they were " verifying" our insurance. We then found out the little local hospital had told them I was  diabetic, so, of course they thought they had a get-out as I hadn't declared it. We managed to sort that out (I'm not diabetic) but still no authorisation from the insurance. My wife then gets a phone call fromthe company to say our insurance ran out after 31 days and "didn't we read the small print" . I would have wrung  the woman's neck but SWMBO pointed out that we had paid over £1000 and had stated from the outset how long we would be away. She then went away to check with the underwriters. After a couple of hours another woman rang to say that we were covered and that we were being moved to another hospital as where we were wasn't that good. Two days later we were taken by ambulance with blue lights and siren going (totally unnecessary) to another hospital . This hospital was state of the art and the treatment first class. Anyway I was releasedlast night with five day's supply of antibiotics. Only drawback is no booze until they're gone.
