Refurbished Class 45 Peak

I'd like to modify a Graham Farish Peak to represent the flush front refurbished 45's that were running around in the mid 80's, just before their withdrawl. Can anyone advise me if there is a modification kit available from a manufacturer, or if not, I'm sure some of the talented modellers on here have wielded scalpels, sourced bits and applied the filler to get the same result? Details, pictures, drawings and advice all much appreciated...

I did look at it but its easier with filler and a file than a kit would be.

I have one on the go at the moment and I am waiting for the weather to improve so I can get it painted. I used filler as mentioned above and a set of Taylor Precision Models sealed beam lights from their class 47 detailing kit.

Sounds good... I'd love to see a picture. Was there anything else you did to the body other than the nose? Anything need changing on the roof or underframe detail? I'm not actually sure what BR did when they were refurbished them or how much would need changing on the GraFar model...

I plated over one of the side grills (the small one at the opposite end to the fan) as pictures show this but depends on which number you choose. I plan on narrowing the bogie side frames as they are too wide (article in Model Rail by Ben Ando, I can't remember which issue) but as far as I am aware the chassis does need any changes.

Hi,

Bit late on this one, but I used a Farish bodyshell with flush nose ends from the P&D Marsh white metal kit. Having contacted P&D Marsh, they were happy to send out just the ends for a nominal fee.

I razor sawed the lower part (below the seam) of the front off and glued the new one on. Very simple and I think it looks OK:

Thanks Mike and Paul. The P&D Marsh option looks great. I will probably have to put up with fat bogies under the stubby nose of my Peak, I have some trainset tight curves in the non-scenic section of my layout.
