Thanks for posting John, fascinating to watch even if like me you can't stand anything military-related :D

Could take a guess? The guide wire is continued in the wagon bed, each vehicle has an onboard signal receiver of some kind (radio, infra-red maybe?) linked to a small solid-state switch that turns the power on to the motor. Just a case of signalling each one in turn, probably not too difficult with a little electronics know-how ;)

Looks like the wire continues down the wagons. I've see video of this in RTR HO as well doing rolling road wagons.

Excellent. Wonder if I can incorporate that into my US layout. Have to look into this, although It's probably expensive.

I was pleased to see that the fickle finger of fate was needed in a couple of cases to prod the vehicles into life!
