Hello all.

We have just received the Dapol NSTEAM1 DC Starter sets in stock and like the DCC set it has been released differently to how it was advertised in the catalogue. This set was originally advertised as having a GWR Green 14XX Tank with 2 matching chocolate/cream coaches, however it has been released with a BR Lined Green 14XX with 1 matching BR Maroon Autocoach.

I have also noticed that the loco has the running number 4866, which i believe is incorrect for this loco in BR Green (should be 1466).

It seems an odd choice of loco for a basic train set too. It had a high failure rate originally with badly moulded axle mounts on a lot of them and even when you get a good one it struggles to pull more than a couple of coaches, so as a starter engine it's pretty limited in what you can do with it once you get past the initial bit of playing with it as a train set.

Very surprised they didn't go with their Pannier Tanks instead, unless the older mould is a lot cheaper to produce.

They were renumbered in 1946. Doing 4866 in GWR would have been smart as its preserved, but in BR green sounds like a fail to me. Oh well it's not hard to fit etched plates
