Hi Roman,

Can you narrow it down for us a bit? What decade and location are you referring to please?

Hi Roman,

The majority of British diesel passenger trains tend to be fixed formations these days (such as HST, class 170's) with very few exceptions. A notable exception is the Class 67 Diesel Locomotive, which forms part of a regular service from Birmingham Moor Street to London. This is operated by Chiltern rail.
I believe class 67's also work in Wales.

Another loco hauled diesel service is the London- Penzance sleeper train, hauled by a class 57 loco.

Other Diesel workings tend to be charter work these days.

class 47s worked virgin cross country services before 2002. these were loco hauled. see video below:

Crewe Railway Station (Class 47 Collection Part 1)

some trains in the north west of england were loco hauled in the late 90s (can't remember when it stopped). they used regional railways class 31s and 37s and regional railways coaches. see video below:

north wales coast also had loco hauled trains until recently when class 57s towed pendolinos crewe to hollyhead.  video below is good with 37s from late 90s:
