Hello people, I am constructing a n gauge layout using peco medium radius points and wish to use crossovers directly after the points. I have been advised not to use the long type crossovers, is this correct?

I can't see why not? You don't state whether you are using Code 80 or Code 55 track, but either way I can't see what alternative there is ???

I used to have something like that on my old layout - No problems.

I think this is a code 80 thing - the long diamond crossing has the wrong angle to use with the medium points.  In code 55 the angles of all the points are the same as the diamond crossing so no problem here.

Incidentally where tracks cross each other is called a crossing or a diamond.  A crossover is two points next to each other to allow a train to cross from one track to the next one.
