Title: Festival of Railway Modelling 7-8th December, Peterborough

This one is right on my doorstep and looks to be quite a large one.  They appear to have 6 N gauge layouts listed.  :)

After missing Warley due to illness.... this is in the diary as my "replacement". I've not been to many this year so I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm hoping to bring the family; does anybody know from experience how pushchair-friendly it is?

Thanks
Paul

Hullo Paul,

I was at Warley last weekend? Shame you missed it.

Pushchair access is excellent, as it is all on one level. There is a slight slope up from the nearby car park, which is has tarmac roads but gravel spaces.

Disabled slots are close to the entrance, but I guess you are mobile and bringing children.

Glad to hear you are better....

Thanks Gizzy. I've just had bad luck this year. every time i've planned to go somewhere i've either been ill or something's come up. I've got both days blocked out for Peterborough so fingers crossed nothing will stop me! Good news on the access, the kids love seeing the layouts so the wife comes with us, but then there's baby too... lol

Sorry to anyone in advance that trips over us all  :D

I had the 'flu last Christmas, which went on to become pneumonia at the beginning of the New Year.

So I know where you are coming from Paul! I too missed some of the earlier MRXs, such as Stevenage.

Thankfully, I am now fully recovered from my ills....

That one is in our diary thanks Chris.

Mizzy Gizzy and I went 2 years ago by car, and it was a nightmare parking as you say.

Next year though, we will get the train from North Cambridge station....

It was my first time at Peterborough this year after kissing Warley and I have to say it was a great show. Even the wife and kids enjoyed it. Great day had by all

 :photospleasesign:

It was only one the way home when my wife asked me which was my favourite that I realised i didn't really look at any. Is it just me that goes to shows and doesn't look at the layouts? I find myself browsing the trade stands and homing in on anything interesting rather than admiring the layouts.  :confused2:

I'm the opposite - going primarily for layouts, then manufacturers, then traders. :beers:

Not sure why, but there is a bias towards Yorkshire in these photographs.  :hmmm: ;)

Those buildings in burnham look superb
Yorkshire pennines on two levels with that wall and sweeping curves looks pleasant too

Can't take the credit for the Queens Hotel, it was built for me by Ken Ball of Macclesfield. It's now The Reeds Arms and is a Wetherspoons! The rest are mine. Thanks for the comments.   Alastair.

The video is very nice but it's of John Parrett's 2mm finescale version, not my N-gauge one. We've had them side by side at Poynton a couple of years ago and it was funny watching the reactions when people looked at mine and then moved on. A lot came back as if they were seeing things. I believe the comparison may be on the cards for next September at the same venue. I chose a slightly later period to model as my lifeboat house became the scout hut.   Alastair.

:claphappy: Moving pictures! Brilliant! Thank you.

I wouldn't like to be sat on a sinking boat waiting on the lifeboat to launch. :D Wonderful bit of animation though.
