Title: Railtec Transfers
Post by: scorpion_1925 on April 01, 2026, 09:31:03 AM
Hi

Can anyone help me get in touch with Railtec, I have tried the email address on their website but so far failed. Are there any other options?

Hi

He is generally very busy so replies can take a while. You could also try contacting him via RMWeb as he has a thread on there.

Thanks, I will give that a try, was asking if he could scale down a set of 4mm decals, but I also know I do sometimes have problems with my emails because I use an old Hotmail address.

Hi Scorpion,

In situations like this I usually add the wrong scale item to my basket and theen add comments saying what scale I want them to be.

It's worked several times in the past, albeit with a delay before delivery.

Hi @scorpion_1925 . I e-mailed Steve today ( info@railtec-models.com ) asking if he would be able to rescale something to 2mm and got an almost instant reply - so he is definitely picking up his mails,
Cheers,
Colin

Seems to be super hit and miss, I've never had an acknowledgement of a request to resize anything! I like the idea of ordering in OO though, I may try that.

It's and interesting technique, might be worth a shot. I'd worry I'd get what i actually ordered

I'm with @njee20 . I've never had a reply to any of my downsize requests.

Just to balance it all up, I have had several orders sorted by Railtec, never had a significant issues. this includes a couple which were rescaling as well as standard stock items and special orders for name and number plates, the most recent arrived yesterday as a class 73 numbers and plates with my wife's name.
Excellent service and superb quality every time.

Best wishes
Simon

To be clear I've never had any issues ordering from Steve, quite the opposite, and I've placed loads of orders. I did once get OO gauge decals (having ordered N), he replaced them, but with the wrong set, and then got it right third time; he was super apologetic and very responsive.

I don't understand how people manage to get custom stuff from him though!

Hi Nick,

Depends what the custon stuff is.

If it's simple - just use the website section for custom decals

Last things I did were for NCB internal user coaches - Clean workers only, Bath men only, Ambulance plus NCB lettering with Numbering. Got them within 3 weeks.

I've asked him to shrink a set of OO CL90 transfers.

I confused matters by asking him to change some of the numbers as he was duplicating the Farish ones. That got an email reply, but nothing then came of it.

I've since used the email link to request a shrink, without renumbering, but never got a reply.

I might try the OO order trick and see what happens, but as I'm in the US that might get in the way.

Regards,

John P

I've never asked for full custom stuff, just resizing. I harbour no ill feelings, it's great he's busy, just bemusing that the options seem to be "totally ignored" or "uber responsive". It's never really mattered, always either found stuff elsewhere, made it myself, or focused on one of the other 924 projects underway

I've not had replies to any recent requests to resize existing sheets. Shame as there's stuff in OO and TT120 that I need but the N Gauge version doesn't exist.

He does say somewhere that often re-scales are more complicated as he also reworks the colours of logos to simplify the design so the 2mm version isn't just a blurred blob, but most of what I want is simple single colour text.

the ones I'm after are for the Consett Iron Ore hoppers, its just white text and a white symbol, again, available in 4mm and TT but not 2mm.

Hi Phil

@scorpion_1925 - what I meant was he definitely already has in 2mm per the link I posted.

I did send an email the other day, as I was chasing up an order. He did reply and said he has received a lot of orders and volumes were very high.
An update is available on his website. I will put the link to it below.

I think the recent Heljan O Gauge sale has generated a lot of orders for O Gauge Class 45 numbersets! I have 45133 "Zephyr". :)
