Poll
Question:
What style of wagon would you be most interested in?
Option 1: Peco Vent Van
Option 2: Dapol Gunpowder Van
Option 3: Plank Wagon
Option 4: I don't mind. I would just love more NGF rolling stock!
Dear all,
I'm trying to get the next NGF anniversary rolling stock ready, but I need your help.
There are some options for what rolling stock is available in large quantities, and I'd like you to choose which you'd prefer.
Additionally, I'd need to know what it would look like. The last wagon was red, so I don't know if there would be preference for the same colour, or something different?
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thank you. :)
My vote would be for a simplistic design along the lines of the last one but a different colour.
How about black with white or yellow wording?
I suppose I would slightly prefer a van to an open wagon, but I don't really mind. What anniversary are we celebrating, is it 25? If so, something with silver lettering would be a bit different!
Cheers,
Chris
I'll buy one, whatever, but I'm tempted to suggest a cattle truck, as appropriate for some of our members. Hat, coat, exit stage left and right.....
We haven't had a van
Traditionally it's crystal for a 15th Anniversary but that doesn't lend itself to model railways.
I have all sorts of commemorative wagons so another van would fit in well, maybe with just simple lettering stating 'NGF - 15th Anniversary.

If it is a van type, then how about a beer wagon with the lettering in silver as another post suggested. May be 'N.G.F. Brewery' or other text with N G and F in it somehow?
Cheers! :beers:

Ooo, you sentimental old thing you.
Here's some alternative information that could be 'manipulated' along that theme...
15 yr anniversary, traditional and alternative themes:
Watches Maybe a clockmakers van?
Crystal Maybe a glass manufacturers van?
Red We've done red so what about...?
Ruby A red alternative?
That's it, that's my half-a-groats worth of input.

Gosh, is it only 15 years? I feel like I've been a member for a lot longer than that...
But, yes, I like the idea of an NGF beer wagon. Or tanker?
Cheers,
Chris
Sadly tank wagons are not an option hence the 3 options in the poll
I know not many people on here model modern image, but possibly a 20 or 40ft container could be an option.
regardless, great idea.
cheers

Or, as Peco also do them, as another possible alternative, how about a Conflat with an "NGF 15" container?

Unfortunately as I understand it, they are not an option from the supplier.
fair enough, as I mentioned just an idea.
I will be purchasing one regardless.
Some folk can't stand wagons like this, but I love em! If I go somewhere, I bring back souvenirs (usually tea towels), but, if they are available, why not railway models?
I have wagons from Kyoto Railway Museum, Minatur Wunderland, and various Peco ones - including Charles coronation, courtesy of
@Train Waiting .
Bring it on,
@Tank ! :beers:
Thanks for the input so far.
Sadly, the options in the poll are all that are available in number.
Please keep voting folks. I want to get this started in the next couple of weeks, ideally.
And I agree Papyrus, it feels longer to me as well! :*( ;D
Being purely selfish I'd love something which wouldn't look out of place in Europe but I know that's not going to happen :)
Whatever is is I'll have one for the display case :)
Cheeky, I know, from someone who's barely been here 25 days, but how about making it something relatively low-key that won't look out-of-place if used in more prototypic sets? Plenty of us are not exactly rolling in ££££ and need to make the most of rolling-stock purchases. To that end, here's an idea of the sort of thing I mean - (you'll need to zoom-in a bit!)

I appreciate that (tongue-in-cheek) details will need adjusting - e.g. red-on-black is scarcely legible at any print size, never mind 1:148!
I like that, especially the '10ft - feels longer' ;D
What about a Siphon G or H ?
I know they used to be available unpainted from Dapol.
They could be realistically liveried to appeal to modellers of non passenger rollingstock as well as goods vehicles.
I'm sure someone could come up with an authentic and believable scheme ...

In the perhaps unlikely event this is possible, I'm actually looking out for a couple I can use in an era 5-6 contex  t
As has already been pointed out, the only options available are at the top of the thread.
I really like the idea of a beer wagon !
It would let us have a wagon specific to the NGF (brewery) and easy to use with regular wagons.
No matter whether it is a Peco van or a Dapol GPV.

Welcome to this month's "
ignore the OP wish-listing thread..." ::)
The Beer van idea sounds like a good idea to offer scope for something eye-catching and believable that would be usable on many layouts, but subtly reference the forum so that those in the know would instantly recognise.
Something like:
North Gate Finest
Ales & Spirits
The PECO Ventilated box van would be more appropriate for this than the steel bodied GPV.
I concur with the brewery idea, but I'd really only be interested if it was an authentic looking vehicle that I could run with other stock, along the lines of PLD's idea. Perhaps the van could have a livery such as this, and a number 15:

Or the blue NGF logo that Tank has below his messages would look fine on a van.
Sadly I don't think something like a scrap wagon labelled "Fissed Old Parts" would pass NGF family muster.
Or a warflat with tank on it :beers:
@PLD There was a Northgate Brewery in Chester, demolished in 1969.

More nonsense...
