This Sunday is Mother's Day and also this weekend the clocks go forward an hour.
If not careful and meeting Mother on Sunday you could be an hour late!!!!
I've remembered Mothering Sunday, but I'd forgotten about the clocks - thankfully most of them take care of themselves these days. Next year we'll have to decide if we want to switch to permanent summertime or wintertime! :worried:
Perhaps we had better have a referendum to decide what year we decide to change to winter or summertime and then debate about it for a couple of years and then delay it a bit longer ,then decide we don't really want to change at all .
That seems to be the way things work now .

I think it's their backstop position..
You've all misinformed anyway.
The clocks go BACKWARDS on Sunday. :D
Depends where you are in the world George. ;)
I have actually seen a clock that went backwards Bealman ,not sure how they made it but all the numbers were in different places so that it still showed the right time if you see what I mean.

Cool!
And I got it wrong anyway.... there's another week before the clocks go back here :dunce:
I have a friend in Melbourne and at this time of year, I never know whether she is 9,10, or 11 hours in front!
Yeah well that's Melbourne for ya ;)
it is all part of the dastardly French plan to abolish GMT and make Paris the centre of the world time zones

Interestingly, the 'Daily Express', a paper not noted for its affection for Continental Europe, had a Time For Change campaign all about getting rid of the clock changes:

But come 2018, and with Euroscepticism more in vogue in certain quarters, their new campaign is to resist those horrid Eurocrats trying to do exactly what the 'Express' wanted...

Who'd have thought it?
Cheers, NeMo
I always remember it as
SPRINGs forward and
FALLs back.
Sounds like me dancing after a few pints! :laugh3:

Yeah finally back to the REAL time.
I hope that SummerTime will be abolisced soon and that people will have the common sense to use the real SUN-time which is winter time... :beers:.

Doing just that caused much confusion with early railway timetables, the time in Penzance for example being several SUN-time minutes different from London. It was only when a standard
MAN-made time was introduced across the network that things became easier.
Just saying :)

Indeed - the guards set their watches by London time and the stations along the route set their clocks by the guards' watches.
The crazy thing was, the drivers were the ones who were expected to keep to time but, at least in the early days, they weren't issued with watches, only the guards.
what about those cloudy days - have a CLOUD time
or if you want to be really avant-guarde how about an UNDERPANT time

The EU is abolishing the 2x yearly time changes in 2021 - so what happens then in UK depends on B****t.

Yes the bureaucrats expect to control the tilt of the earth by then making it unnecessary. :smiley-laughing:
