Title: Kenwood Microwave
Post by: petercharlesfagg on April 22, 2015, 09:10:17 AM
Friends,

Does anyone own a new Kenwood Microwave model number KW14?

We purchased one last November but the dog has recycled the instruction manual!

I have contracted Kenwood group who state that they DO NOT MAKE any microwaves!

I have contacted  Curry's through their "Knowhow" web site with manuals galore but not ours!

We have conducted numerous on line searches for the same manual or even bits that are relevant but drawn a blank every time!

Does anyone have such a beast and is willing to get parts of the manual copied for our use?

Regards, Peter.

Which Kenwood did you contact? There are "British" and Japanese companies of the same name.

Having been employed in "The Kenwood Group" for 17 years (Prior to my taking redundancy) , the group that allegedly manufactures kitchen white goods, I approached the head office in London.

They said that they knew of the company that manufactures the machines under their name but wouldn't reveal it to me?  (Strange that)

I doubt if the Japanese company has anything to do with the machine but it is possible?

Strangely the manufacturers plate doesn't even show where the machine was made although I suspect it is Chinese origin?

Peter.

Can't see your model number here but you might need to read it off the device info label.  You could try here though

Thankyou, been there done that!  It was my first port of call!

Because the model isn't there, and Curry's agree that it isn't there, they gave me the manual for KW13 which is totally different!

Regards Peter.

Bob, simple answer, Yes!

In the frustrations of speaking and writing to Curry's employees I must have quoted the numbers and letters a hundred times but it makes no difference!

We went to another Curry's store and found the self same microwave and asked them to copy the manual, NO was the answer plus "We do not have the manual ourselves!"  My argument was that if they had a new machine on display then they must still have the box and the manual but they were adamant!

I gave up in disillusionment and incredulity!

Peter.

Ah, then I bow to your first-hand experience. I wasn't aware they were different companies until relatively recently.

AFAIK they make audio equipment... but otherwise no idea.

Peter do Currys offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you change your mind if so you could buy it in the store that had one like yours take it home photocopy the manual then take it back and say you've changed your mind and someone had given you a microwave so you don't need it anyway make sure the refund includes Microwaves in the offer I know ARGOS do that but they don't do your microwave.

I suppose it's a stupid question, Peter, but have you got the model number? If so you must have tried the site :- http://www.kenwoodworld.com/uk/customer-services-support/instruction-manuals (http://www.kenwoodworld.com/uk/customer-services-support/instruction-manuals)

This could appear to be smug smart bottom comment Peter, but why do you need a manual?

Just plug it in and throw the frozen dinner into it!  ;)

One thing's for sure though, do NOT attempt any repairs yourself. They have a capacitor in there which has a kick that will terminate you.

I had one years ago where the Klystron started sparking. Quite a spectacular display for about 5 seconds, then a ruddy great bang.

Thankyou Bob for the idea but in my original posting I did say that we bought it back in November last year!  Peter.

Malcolm, thanks for the thought but your link is yet another that I have tried.

Thankyou very much anyway, glad the package arrived safely and thanks again for being such a brick in purchasing all that rolling stock!  Peter.

Peter

I think what bob ment was to go and purchase the one on display that you have found. Take it home photo copy the manual then take it back saying someone has just given you a microwave so you have changed your mind and get a full refund thus you still retaining your old microwave and obtaining the manual

Hi Peter,

Are you absolutely positive that the model number is simply KW14?

Having looked through Kenwood's current microwave range, all the model numbers are in a different format from what you have quoted, e.g. K25MW14, K28CW14, etc........

Seems devious but it might be the last resort!  Thankyou, and apologies to Bob!  Peter.

Thanks Jonny that's exactly what I meant .
Peter if you do have to do this as a last resort double check that they do have a returns policy and you have clear proof that you can take it back if you change your mind, some things are excluded  from from these promises for various reasons, I don't want you to end up with two microwaves.
Good luck ?

I have found the same numbers as scottystich. I tried to do a picture on the computer at work but the system would not let me. These are the only reference to the letters KW and 14 that show up on the net.
Typing in google "kenwood microwave manual KW14" led me to a web site that has manuals on adobe files.
Sorry for not being better with computers but I could have done with being able to post a picture of the microwave to confirm the type plus a link to the manual.
Happy searching.

No worries Peter, I was pretty certain that's what had happened.

Really pleased I was able to help.

Good luck
