But special thanks to you for setting this forum up!!
Ian
An incredible effort Tank, and all the mods. Well done and thank you. Cheers, Bill.
Great news and well done to Tank and the team for keeping it all going.
Wow that's amazing I bet that exceeds even Tanks expectations I'll add my thanks to him and all the Mods ,This forum has been such a help to me I was really down in the dumps after loosing my best mate and then our pet dog Buster ,but now thanks to the forum I feel that I've got friends all over the world
And it's given me something to look forward to every day.

From another Bob - I agree with that sentiment
It keeps me off the streets and out of the pub (sometimes) so thats no bad thing.
It's been a real pleasure being part of this forum, and nice to meet some of you around the shows and meets.
Yay!
Many thanks and congratulations to you, tank, and the team!
I've just looked at the cycling forum that I've been a member of since the internet was invented (it feels like) and that's standing at 3725 members.
I used to think I lived in an obscure subset of society - maybe cycling railway modellers are going mainstream!
Donald
The forum is bigger and better thanks to Tank and the moderators plus not forgetting the members.

... perhaps we are! Nice there's some of us 2-wheelers / 2 mill-ers out there.
Would like to add my congratulations also.
Not been a member all that long, but found it really friendly (on the whole), and informative, and being as it is international with members all over the World, only makes it that bit more interesting.
Keep up the good work everyone - Tank, Moderators, and contributors, and keep the photos and videos coming as love seeing and viewing them.
Well done.
I read in the NGS Journal today they have just over 6000 members. I wonder how many of them are NGF members :hmmm:
Won't be long before they get overtaken anyway :P
Many thanks everyone. :) Always great to see so many people enjoying the forum. I know we do get the odd negative comment/argument on here, but in my near 15 years of being an Admin/Moderator on various forums, this is by FAR the most behaved one.
I must also thank all of our past moderators who have helped me greatly with the forum as well.

I'm amazed! Who would have thought there were so many of us not locked up yet??
I'd be interested to know how many of those 4000 are actually active on the forum. What happens if you don't post anything for say a year or more? Do you get shunted off into a sort of digital siding and have the track pulled up behind you?
Anyway, I'll add my thanks to those of everybody else to Tank and the team, and to all of you who post so entertainingly. I find myself reading threads about aspects of the hobby that are nothing to do with what I am modelling, simply because they are so interesting. It's no wonder I never get anything done...
Thanks everybody.
Chris
I can only add my congratulations to all the others. Quite a landmark - here's looking forward to 5,000
Congratulations and thanks to the team for running the forum and of course to all the members for making it so interesting

I wonder if the reason for this being a more friendly less contentious Forum is that most members on here are more mature (older) and realize life is really too short and precious to waste any more time arguing and complaining.
I left another Forum recently because of all the bickering and over moderation where you weren't even allowed to post a joke as it would be frowned upon, deleted, and the poster warned.
Whilst being feeling unwell over the past few weeks, logging onto to the NGF brightened up each day a little, and the new medecine the Doctor gave me yesterday seems to be working and I'm ready to spend more time on my layout which I too find therapeutic.
Chris, I bet you never thought you'd get so many members when you started the forum. Well done. Here's to the next 4000. My thanks to you and all the mods, including past ones, who make it all work seamlessly.
4,000 is a nice round number.
Excluding the "Happy" and "Angry" threads I wonder what the top 40 (another nice round number) most popular threads/topics have been over the years - does the hosting system supply such information?

Hi Terry,
If you click on 'Forum' on the main toolbar and scan down to 'Stats', in small lettering you will see 'more stats' and that might provide you with more info.
Congratulations and thanks from my humble self, since discovering N-gauge half-a-year ago I've learnt a lot from this site and it is one of the ones I visit every day.
Well done everyone. Amazing that we have now reached the 4,000 mark. :claphappy:
No doubt the success is due to the friendly, helpful advice provided and banter which is readily evident
Nobody is made to feel they were "stupid" to raise a topic :help: which concerned them and indeed the moderators are keen to confirm this attitude when most members join up, with a friendly welcome comment.
I feel the monthly target for donations, in view of the current size of the membership, could be increased, as most months the target is well exceeded in any event. :hmmm:
Once again well done all those involved in the day to day operation/maintenance of the forum and many thanks to all those who have asked a question, submitted responses or kept us updated on all aspects of N gauge railway modelling - as well as other unrelated subjects- which help to broaden your knowledge and outlook on life - not to mention giver us a downright good laugh.
WELL DONE EVERYONE ---- LETS GO FOR 10,000!!
Cheers
Well done to all :claphappy: The one problem with this forum is that it's so good I spend too much time reading, not enough doing :laugh2:
Many, many congratulations on reaching such an impressive milestone! For me there are zero local modellers of British N Gauge (I think the nearest NGF member to me is in Virginia), so the NGF acts as my local model railway club, which is praise indeed. The friendly banter and advice have really helped me as I have built my layout.
Here's to the next 4000 members (and more) :headbang:
Well done all of the team who make this possible.
You keep me off street corners and away from dirty women - damn ya!
Seriously though - great job folks - thanks.....
Well done, team. I'll second all the comments in the previous posts. This is a great forum and I'm sure its membership will continue to grow.
Heres to the next 4000, just proves this is a great hobby.
Well done Tank and team.
Hi Tank, it's been nearly 6 months since you told us we had 4000 members. Would it be a silly question to ask how many we have now?
Hi W-P,
This can be checked at the bottom of the 'Forum' page under 'Stats' where it shows how many posts have been made by how many members. It stands at 4272 members today.
Congratulations Tank! That's a big achievement. Thanks to you for setting it up and to all the team for keeping it running as a friendly, informative and entertaining forum.

Thanks. So we have gone up by 272 members in around 6 months? That's very good.
Sometimes I think that keeping an eye on NGF stats is a hobby in itself! ;)

Thank you Mark. You certainly helped out when you were a moderator as well. Thanks to all the NGF team and our great membership. :)
Maybe you would like to offer limited runs of HS4000 in N Gauge forum livery to celebrate then?
Congratulations to Tank and all the team that make this a brilliant forum. Whilst a relative 'newbie', I am amazed at the amount of knowledge that is available on here  . My endeavours so far amount to getting my coffee table built, with a bit done inside it, together with a basic oval on a 2' x 3' board as a test track. (All delayed a bit due to the sad death of my sister). However, I am now back on track, (sorry!) and will be reading posts avidly seeking out a bit more knowledge. As I said, :thankyousign: to Tank and the others, but :thankyousign: to everyone else who freely give their knowledge. David.
I can only agree with the above comments. NGF has provided many an answer during my foray into N and has created immense pleasure in seeing other peoples work. Thank you to all involved! :NGF:

Okay, (slightly), off topic - referring to recent posts in the 'Merchandise' section - how about a container with the graffitti "NGF 4000" ? :laugh3: :bounce: :hmmm: Just a thought. We could then have another when we pass the 5000 mark. (Could go on ad infinitum ). David.

Hi David, I was sorry to read about your sister in this post and offer my sincere sympathy to you and your family.
Greg.
Dannyboy Very sorry I've only just read your post I don't think I've met you but I still offer you my condolences ,I know how you must feel I lost my sister 2 years ago and although we weren't close I still miss her.
