Looks like they announced some things now as they'll be in the shops this year, because they're not releasing their full 2014/15 programme until July.

I'm encouraged by their announcement of new train packs without extra track, Hornby's done these for years, and it's a long overdue initiative.

The Midland 4F pack is their Great War release, obviously.

Farish produced a J94 in Longmoor blue livery some years ago so their planned train pack of WD and Mk1s complement each other.

The other surprise is they're including a model of Ais Gill signalbox with the Duchess of Hamilton train pack. May this be the start of a set of buildings covering the Settle and Carlisle line?
It's 25 years ago this year since the line was reprieved from closure by the transport secretary.

My guess for Farish's 25th anniversary pack will be a special boxed edition containing models of class 47 D1989 with 3 Mk1s and class 03 D2014 with four or five wagons.

Two other locos numbered 1989 and 2014 were built by the North Eastern Railway and kept their pre-group numbering by the LNER until 1946, when their entire fleet was re-numbered:

J25 0-6-0 1989
D20 4-4-0 2014

As well as the tooling costs involved, both classes are available in the Union Mills range so I suspect they're non-starters.

Another possibility could be a LNER K3 numbered as 1989 (post-1946 numbering) which would be a welcome development as a mixed traffic loco available in this scale.

2 digital train sets, 3 dc train sets, and 4 train packs. Things must be looking up for Bachfar.

Anybody noticed the OO (sorry for mentioning the scale) digital train set with sound with the e-z command controller, so it looks like the basic controller can do sound.

Back to N. I have notice the digital sets have sidings so I wonder what they have used to make the layout all live it would interesting to see what size staples they use if any cause I tried using small staples to make my layout live and it didn't work.

The fact they have got 2 digital train sets gives me encouragement to try again to make my layout all live.

I can't help but think (hope) that the 25th Anniversary pack will be a new A4. Seems like they're building up some anticipation by not revealing it just yet. Can't see it being the long awaited 37's  :smiley-laughing:

Other than that, I can't see anything else from the current range standing out as 'Flagship' loco's other than another Tornado or the royal train perhaps?

I would love it to be an A4 with the new coreless motor  but I doubt it sadly given the existence of the Dapol model.

I anticipate some big surprise though given the price quoted - poss a two loco DCC setup?

Maybe something containing the name "Silver", as the price suggests a twin loco pack:

LMS Jubilee 5552 Silver Jubilee in its black and silver finish
LNER A4 2509 Silver Link with valence

47 163 or 47 164 in Stratford's finest customisation with silver roof and Union Jacks and white wheel rims
66 705 Silver Jubilee in GBRF livery
Silverlink 150/1 DMU

Hmmm...I think I know what my Dad's christmas present will be.  He models US N scale but he was based at Longmoor in the early 60s.  I'm sure that would look nice among the SD40-2s.

Are these the prices we can expect to see at retailers or the rrp?

Just out of interest, if anyone splits sets i`m always willing to offer £20 plus afew quid postage for track, controLler, power pack, track clips etc.

Talking about this at Rails today and the top theory is a silver lined jubilee, but I still want it to be an A4  :P

It may not even be a twin loco pack, but a loco and carriage set instead.

If it is indeed a train pack, my guess would be the LMS Jubilee and a rake of five Staniers in a wooden presentation case.

An outside chance could be an all-new set consisting of the LNER A4 as no. 2509 Silver Link in original condition with matching articulated carriages for the "Silver Jubilee" express

The prices in my OP are the RRPs. I imagine that at a lot of places you will see them discounted by is 15% off this price.

This may be of interest. I noticed that the Virgin Voyager set has a retail of £139.95, where as the forthcoming Virgin Voyager on it's own has a retail of £164.95!

Skyline2uk

Quite possibly :P Then again, if Farish announce one in their July announcement than i may leave it as i don't want the wagons lol.
There will, however, be a Digital Controller and track finding it's way into the classifieds as the Jinty set is certainly finding it's way onto Sheaf :D A very attractive livery (SDJR Blue is rather tasty) as currently carried by 47327 at Butterly :P Plus a couple more PO Wagons for my ever growing collection, and it'll save me getting the LMS Brake van on it's own

Oh and when the Bachmann rep informed us that some sets would be announced over this weekend, it is apparently planned to have these available around September time.

I suspect in that case we are talking about a "Silver Jubilee" in LMS black with all the silver trim as it appeared pre-war and a 47 in the Large Logo "Union Jack" BR blue livery.

Thanks for the information - a bit of a disappointment - at least knowing means I will be able to spend my money elsewhere.

dont think i could justify it, if it was an anniversary of graham farish it would mean more to me than it would of it being an anniversary of bachmann

Interesting with all the talk about accuracy that many of these appear to be somewhat inaccurate sets thrown together using similar RTR components. I guess it goes to show that highest detail and accuracy isn't the whole story.

Think I'll build myself the right coaches to run with the LMR set if I get it though. Pity theyve not done the 2-10-0 so they could do Gordon (the very big engine)
now on the Severn Valley.

Thanks for the clarification, it was interesting discussing some of the possibilities such a commemorative pack could have included.

I too think it'll be 5552 Silver Jubilee in black with silver bands and one of Stratford's Union Jack-adorned 47s.

5593 Kolhapur was painted in 5552's livery for a time on the Great Central Railway in the 90s:

Here's a link.

I also read somewhere that it will be in a silver tin not sure where I read it from though.

I assume they have lots of suburban brake ends if they did a typical sized batch and expect people to buy the blue ones in the ratios of the actual train formations (ie 5 to 1 or 3 to 1). The LMR had a range of rather esoteric old coaches so doing the proper ones wouldn't be practical.

So is the set with 3 brake ends or is it two standard suburbans and a brake end?

I can only think that as it was a military railway there was an awful lot of baggage per person transported

Glad it wasn't just me who was slightly confused about a WWI commemorative set featuring a locomotive built in 1924 ???

:confused2:

Erm... the only set that proports to represent WW1 is the "Landship" pack with Midland Railway 4F no 3848 which infact entered Traffic in 1912...

???

Put the Countryside Coal Digital Set with Class 3F Jinty No.23 in SDJR blue on pre-order today, would like the Duchess of Hamilton but can't justify the cost.

That's a 3835 not a 4F though... I know it's splitting hairs due to the 4F being derived from it, but it's still incorrect.

My fingers are getting itchy for one of those Virgin Voyager 220s. The only thing that is worrying is that, as I understand it, they need four decoders.  :worried:  Is that right and if so why four?  One in each Power unit for head and tail lights I can understand.

The Farish Voyager requires 2 Decoders. One for the power car, and one for the dummy power car (for the lights).

Today's issue of MREMAG states that the Silver Anniversary Set consists of  Jubilee & Class 47 in a metal tin with numbered certificate. Can't wait to see the full details.

No confirmation of the ID though... Is 5552 "Silver Jubilee" too obvious??

My choice would still have been that in it's original Black & Silver colour scheme...

Actually, the Farish pack is already available now (mid-August).  Hattons, Rails, Kernow, Osborns all have them in stock.

Unfortunately I already have a Jubilee and I really don't want another one.  It's just another green express steam loco.  The 47 by contrast is fantastic - if they offered the 47 in that livery as a stand alone item, I'd buy one in an instant.

Has anyone bought one of these sets?  I'd like to know if each loco comes with its own separate plastic storage box within the presentation box.  None of the pictures I've seen of this set show the inside of the presentation box.  I could see myself buying one of these sets and then selling the Jubilee, though I suppose I could just sell my other Jubilee.

Matt

Edit - Oops.  Answered my own questions.  Rails has a picture of the inside of the box which I somehow missed when I looked before.  Each loco just sits within a plastic tray within the presentation box, so there is no separate and individual box proper for each loco and you'd be stuck storing each loco in that big wooden humidor...
