You're doomed, Mr. Mainwaring, you're doomed :-X
Hope you haven't got anything on pre order that may arrive in March
I almost managed it this month, I was foiled by the WMSR pre-order from about three years ago and a chance to buy a a 2fs converted class 26 :D.
Alan
I would have managed it bar the
Two Turbo Stars, one class 66, one class 90 and various other parts DOH!!

I didn't buy anything in 2012
I decided to sit back and have a break
the Mrs doesn't want me to play this game...
apparently i still have to pay for the groceries, put petrol in the car etc.... :(
Hi Tim,
Been trying to do the same in Feb. Valentine's day, girlfriend's 50 th birthday, vet's bills etc has taken it's toll but hard not to go to ebay and think I want that, I want that!
With regards to March, mother's and neice's birthdays coming up and when they're over I'm going to invest any money left at the Cheltenham races and put my St. Patrick's day Guinness on a tab.
Think I need help!
Good luck :beers:
ive looked at hattons and rails but cant find "nothing" in any of their sections. Do you have a part number.

Yes, the part you need is BU-66ER-4LL ;)

I do have the Brighton Belle on pre-order but lets face thats not going to arrive imminently.
With Sterling falling like a stone against the Euro - I'll be sticking an order for track & points into Hattons today or tomorrow as (for me at least) it creates a bit of a discount...

You either cant see it listed because its been discontinued or its currently out of stock
It's very hard to find a shop that is still open that has
Nothing in stock.
It's not a very popular stock item with shops, as once there is Nothing on the shelves the customers stop asking for Something and the shop quickly goes into negative profit after week or two.

SWMBO always tries to inflict a 'buy nothing month' on me every month, and fails miserably :D :D

If you're anything like me, then .....
this message is timed at 12:19 and valid for 30 seconds ........
now what's Hattons got down as new releases :smiley-laughing:
My wants list:
Dapol 56s and 58s in original Railfreight, Dapol 86 in IC Swallow and Virgin liveries, Dapol weathered BR grain hoppers, Farish weathered BP TEA tankers, a Dapol Jubilee 67, Dapol Arriva and Regional 153s, chassis for a Farish 87 and a 50, a Farish 03, a Farish 350 in LM livery and the Dapol Pretendolino set.
Recommendations on which one I shouldn't buy, this month, will be most welcome.
:D
That's cheating! There's only 3½ hours of this month left ;)
hattons and rails sent me emails today!!!! not helping guys!!!! they are like bookies praying on a gambling addict!!!!
so i nearly bid on a 3 wheel sncf coach on ebay (in a larger scale, ssshhh), but didn't!
i think i will have to make an exception to the rule that i am allowed to buy items under £10 such as paint or glue.... otherwise i may not be able to do much to my layout.
i have been listening to jazz fm this evening whilst i re-glued down my platform because it wasn't sitting flat enough on the board, i then repaired some ballasting, and i have added the first people to the layout!!! 3 people now waiting for a dmu local service to arrive at my small island platform!!!
just think, if everyone on this forum were to sell their trains on ebay we could probably pay off the national debt!!!! f##k doing that though!!!
anyway stay strong all those who are joining in the buy nothing month which starts very soon!!!!
tim
what! we are already in April here.
But me be thinking that since you guys started thwe thread in March, then buy notning month is over.
BArt
A month? ???
I was just trying to get through a week but succumbed to some paints and brushes today. D'oh! :laugh3:
Buy nothing for a month hey :hmmm: OK I wont :claphappy: I am saving for a holiday :help: have to pay my car registration :veryangry: get new tyres for my back wheels on the car (http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/madhouse/dash1.gif) the electricity account is due and the phone bill just arrived  whatever is left will be spent on tins of soup, jars of jam, margarine and bread (http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/artists/snoozer/zomby.gif)
I decided some time ago that I would do this great hobby on a small budget and nowt has changed
Well I've made a good start, haven't bought a thing yet this month
One day in and have just got the GAS BILL.. Euro 188!!! for one month and we only have the central heating on for 3hours a day.
My guess is no trains until spring... :'(
dont you just love bills(no not the bloke down the road). yes crap time of year school fees, rates, car rego insurance tyres etc, house insurance phone, water and power bills not to mention the bill to fix the pool(**** of a builder declared himself bankrupt :veryangry:) all up A$40550 and that was just for February. Now just got told by Lily im up for another A$850 for her and mitch for school camp. yeh!
Cant understand why i cant finish my train set.
Bart

Hi Bart, crikey mate seeing the bills you have to pay made me realize I have nothing to moan about, sorry to hear about your shonky builder that type of thing seems to happen a lot these days, hope things work out OK for you.
Hi EP and crew, wife would not let that happen. My shed is already big enough in her opinion, at 20m by 12m and two storeys. Having said that i could always enclose the shed side awning, its 10.5m by 4m, just use it really for washing the fire trucks and father in law parks his caravan under it. Must admit, shed does look good on google earth though!
And i dont think zac would be impressed he loves the pool and now that it is all fix and has new polished stone for the surrounds to the entertaining/bbq areas it looks absolutely fantastic even after the bitter and costly experience
Bart
update: i have FAILED the challenge. I bought two coaches on ebay (HO scale Marklin ones), and then my only analogue controller i use to test run things broke, so i replaced it with a new gaugemaster one.
Not a massive spend.... but none the less, I have failed, and as such I am off now to demand to be sectioned and placed under the care of the state... for my own good...
Tim

At least you didn't buy a class 66 which turned up with a missing bogey and the one present had all the gears removed by the seller who "Completely Forgot" they were not in it  ... but the description said "Runs Smoothly" ... well the motor did DOH !! :'(
Well good luck to all those trying not to spend.
I myself have only one item to buy this month and that is card glue so i can the station building fixed. all of the paints i need fro weathering i have so hopefully will be weathering just about everything i have aswel as fitting a decoder into my shunter ( which i am nervous about haha)
Well i'm out of this one, already ordered a few bits for the layout. :-[ :D
Feel quite happy then that I did not commit myself to this.
Cable clips, Plugs and sockets in transit as I type this.
I, too, have since failed. I've gone and bought an airbrush hose and cleaning brush set, from a certain well known auction site.
I haven't bought anything since the Doncaster show weekend.I fully intend that this will be the case until the York Exhibition where at least a couple of sound decoders will be bought so I can add a couple more conversions to my portfolio.
I have a Farish class 50 on my workbench awaiting disassembly and then chassis mods to be undertaken so the speaker and decoder will fit.Next up will be a Farish Peak D187 which looks as tricky as my class 40 Whistler.
So for March,I may get away with not buying anything at all thats model railway related and thats without trying,so all you chaps and chappesses that are trying not to spend money, take a tip from the not so ancient philosopher,Homer J Simpson.
"You've tried your best and failed miserably. My advise, don'try."

Hi Gang,
Bought nothing so far in the first 6 days of the month....must be a record for me.
As I am overseas till Easter, I may survive the month with no personal purchases....however, my proxy buyer is probably going to pick me up some stuff at Ally Pally or elsewhere in my absence....does that count.
Later,
Stu in OAKN.
Hi Stu
As I will owe you for the Western trip, there will be no money changing hands, therefore you can claim the buy nothing month. BTW, I much prefer the job title of personal shopper rather than proxy buyer!
Regards to alll
Pete @ EGLM
Three weeks in and no railway related material purchased.
Hope Hatton's are still in business by April :D
:oopssign:
The Dapol 2884 and a Farish 4MT became available and money had to change hands ::)

Still had a good result this week. Mrs "H" was rushed to the Hospital on Monday with a burst stomach ulcer. Unaware she had one so it was a "bit of a shock".
Must say Italian Hospitals are wonderful, Wards divided into rooms with only 3 to a room (space for a 4th bed) visiting 7:00 to 22:00 and FREE PARKING!!
Was discharged last night and has to eat cold food for a week, other than that she is much improved form. Made a change for her to visit A&E....
I hope Mrs H recovers quickly, that must have been a frightening experience.
cheers John.
For "Buy Nothing" month read as "Spend the most" month for me - not only did I buy a set of Fleischmann PKP coal hoppers, I also earlier in the month got a couple of building kits, and some trucks at a couple of shows, as well as some track cleaning materials! :-[

It was going so well, just some second hand tower blocks to anglicize and then I had an accident in the guitar shop :-[

I'd planned a trip to Ally Pally on Sunday so had been very well behaved.
Trip cancelled as Aged Pater (93) poorly in hospital so I'm not risking being out of emergency dash range. :worried:
Almost certainly all will be well with dad allowed home, me doing a big kid sulk :-X and then spending a mint on line!
