In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

Or it's in a Customs depot waiting to see if VAT/Duty is applicable.

Oh, heck :worried:

Perhaps it's not such a bad idea, the bible tells us "the wages of sin are death". Think how many politicians we could get rid of.

But the Bible also tells us: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". So good luck with that.

SWMBO had to go up to the local hospital yesterday for a chest x-ray, should have been the day before but she wasn't well enough.

so, we drag up there, she goes in, has the x-ray and comes home.
this morning a phone call from the x-ray dept.

Can I speak to mrs xxxxxx ?

sorry, she'd not up yet, she had a bad night

ohh

can I help you ?

who are you ?

her husband

oh, it's x-ray dept at PRH, we need her in today for a CT scan.

why? is there a problem with the x-ray she had yesterday.

I can't discuss that

let me guess, a shadow on her lung

err

she had TB Spinal Meningitis as a child, and the shadow has been there ever since. it is on her records.

I don't have her records. can you get her here for 2.00 pm ?

yes, but I'm surprised you haven't phoned before

pardon ?
well, she had a chest x-ray with you ten weeks ago, the shadow will have been on that one, but no one phoned about it then.

I can't comment. 2.00 pm then

click..brrrrr

is it any wonder the NHS is stretched to breaking point and has huge waiting lists ?

update

SWMBO attended at the due time and place, seen quickly, wasn't too sure about the scanner thing, but staff were very reassuring, and all done with no problem.

so, as usual, front line staff 11/10

pen pushers 0- / 10

if only they spent more on the proper staff, and less on the pen pushers, things would be so much better.

especially as it appears, with all the pen pushers they've got, they still don't seem to read the patients records ! >:(

Newportnobby

It's highly likely your caller was just an X-ray 'photographer' and they know nothing of hospital records or anything other than taking the 'snap'. I've lost count of the number of times they just shrug and say 'I only take 'em - I don't translate 'em'.
From bitter experience I also rate the office very lowly as against 'hands on' staff.
I do hope Mrs class37025 has not been too upset by all this.

guest311

luckily, SWMBO is , like me, a firm supporter of the two rules ...

rule 1 - those that can , do
those that can't teach or become managers

rule 2 - those who think they can, but can't, become managers or admin staff, where they can do more damage, with much less effort.

the radiographer she saw today was, as the one she saw yesterday, great, understanding, explained everything, and made sure she understood and was happy with what was happening.

obviously, I was sat in the car park, as under the present circumstances, patients have to go in by themselves, we can understand that.

so she is happy, but I wonder who had to give up the chance of a CT scan because she was called in for one, most probably / hopefully with no need.

I just hope that any delay caused does not mean more problems for the person who could have had the scan today, if she had not been called in.
