Something to curl up on when you're staggering home from the bowlo

Driving in my own suburb at 5 in the afternoon reminds me very much of my driving adventures in the UK earlier in the year! 

careful Mr Plod doesn't nab you for using your phone whilst driving.   

The traffic was stopped, and plod was nowhere in sight.... not that they have to be these days. 

Vic Police have just installed cameras on a lot of light poles especially at intersections just watching the cars for phone use. Big brother is watching more and more. Roll on 1984, oh too late.

Actually it's Dapto station, not that far from Chez Bealman.



Looks like double track main line, doesn't it? Actually, it is.... all the way to Sydney.... unless you're going south.

It becomes single track all the way to Bomaderry.

Did you see the all-too-visible wiring to the power feeds (Peco wired fishplates?) on the track in the first picture?

I bet you made a much better job of disguising these on the B&CE.  Even a coarse modeller like me manages to hide them below an overbridge or in a tunnel.

And another thing - look how untidy that ballast edge is.  Careless modelling and not like the real thing at all!

Haha, it does look like the power feeds are on top of the baseboard, doesn't it? 

Reminiscent of the Triang clips to Super 4 track.

But there is working catenary!

Just like Tri-ang in Super 4 days!  The idea was one could have an 'EM2' powered by the OLE and a 'Britannia'* drawing power from the rails.  very clever - two trains running independently on one track using the common return system.

Absolutely no chance of a collision!

By the way, Oscar Paisley's 'YouTube' channel is an entertaining video-fest of vintage Tri-ang.

*Lots more nice locomotives were available in the range, but Tri-ang appears to have had a soft spot for these two.

Yep. They were very popular locomotives. I had a Brit, and I believe @Newportnobby had overhead.

Yup. I had the EM2 'Electra' and somewhere in the family there's a pic of me, aged 8, in my dressing gown on Christmas morning holding a Tri-ang blue Hymek with the most massive smile on my face.
