In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

it must be an age thing,
but I keep listening to the Wolfe Tones.

don't really care about the politics of some of their songs,
they just remind me of my first posting [ to a certain RAF station then turned later into an army barracks] when we used to go to a certain pub, [later blown up with terrible casualties], and listen to great music, regardless of it's political persuasion.

for a while I feel 22 again, though not for long. too many years have passed, but things seemed much clearer / simpler in those days.

or is it just the passing of time that changes our perception ?

next would be Peter, Paul and Mary...
'Leaving on a jet plane'

a weekly favourite on the station radio when I was in the Gulf, played almost every Thursday for those 'gozomeies' on the VC-10 tourex.

after 13 months it was my turn, but sometimes I wish I was still there.

as Cher said

"if I could turn back time",,,,,,,,,,,

King Crimson - Cadence And Cascade (Greg Lake Guide Vocal)

I have that track on the excellent Island sampler album 'Bumpers'.
Am now playing KC - In the court of the Crimson King :)

TrevL

Mick, do you think you're a 21st century schizoid man?
Cheers, Trev.

Ah.... Island sampler albums. I've got a few of those. Currently on the turntable (although not switched on, because Mrs B is here) is that exact King Crimson track on a sampler called "Nice Enough to Eat".
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

I have that one. The Mott the Hoople track 'At the crossroads' is brilliant. They were a great band before they went 'poppy' :(

Bealman

Indeed. There is some good stuff on that album - Free, and a brilliant Jethro Tull one. I was playing "You can all join in" a lot a year or two ago as well, but I'm stuffed if I can find it lately.

And it was only 99p when I bought it new. I also bought the 'Bumpers' double album new and it still carries the sticker '29s 11d' :) A later Island double album sampler 'El Pea' cost £1.99 :(
