Quote from: crewearpley40 on February 23, 2024, 02:35:24 PMWas that you saw the band in the 70s or 1979?

I'm sure I don't know what you mean    ;)

(I hate the keyboard on this Dell Latitude with a vengeance)

port perran

This is not usually my thing but I cafe across this whilst watching Larry Carlton earlier on YT.
This duo popped up as a recommendation and I was captivated. They seem so in tune with each other :

I'll get round to fixing it drekkly me 'ansome.

I agree with you Martin @port perran . My spreadsheet tells me I saw The Pink Fairies plus support at the Roundhouse (Camden) on Sunday 13 July 1975, my notes recall "I do not remember Stray at all but the Pink Fairies were very loud and were joined by several members of Hawkwind – I think it was a re-union event and was recorded (and the smell of dope!)". I had their first three albums on vinyl. One track I particularly liked was "War Girl" and very different to "Uncle Harry", sort of Santana-ish...

Loved that track, very reminiscent of a certain Mr. Dylan with Emmylou Harris....

Moonglum

Gosh, I had forgotten about this gem Mick @Newportnobby . I have never been a fan of Bob Dylan but his album Desire is a bit of an exception. Mrs C had this on vinyl and I didn't appreciate Emmylou was on it.

Cheers,

Tim

Stepped back in time to my motorbiking days with some Jurassic rock anthems of those days. In no particular order:--

Blue Oyster Cult 'Don't fear the reaper'
Chris Spedding 'Motorbikin'
Led Zep 'Stairway to Heaven'
Status Quo 'Mystery Song'
Steppenwolf 'Born to be wild'
Lynyrd Skynyrd 'Free Bird'
Led Zep 'Kashmir'
Hendrix 'Voodoo Chile'
AC/DC 'Highway to Hell'
Deep Purple 'Speed King'
Focus 'Hocus Pocus'
Gun 'Race with the devil'

I can almost feel the wind in the hair I haven't got :D

Bealman

Yeah, there's a few of Bealman 's faves there
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

JulianO

A bit slow getting back on here due to looking after 23 month old grandson for 4 days while his Mum went to Sydney to see Taylor Swift..
Glad there are some guitar players on the Forum. Playing guitar, or any other instrument for that matter I guess, is a great relaxation and a wonderful way to take your mind off stresses as it's hard to concentrate on music and think of anything else.
On another note (?) Dorset Mike mentioned the Dutch College Swing band. That's getting pretty obscure, but I just happened to pick up a second hand CD of theirs signed by the band. Must give it another spin.

Bealman

Four days to see Taylor Swift?

I knew the queues were long, but heck...  ;D

She probably couldn't escape Travis Kelce's grasp, and who can blame him?

Newportnobby

Meanwhile, another 70s band I saw a couple of times..

but one of my preferred tracks of theirs is...

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

<*))))><

Newportnobby

That track has definite overtones of 1980s pop :hmmm:

I thought I'd start my day off with something calming......

Nick Beggs was in Kajagoogoo Mick @Newportnobby (but I am sure you knew that). The instrumental section is great. Thanks for posting Andrew.
