From her 1974 album "Like an Old Fashioned Waltz", every track is a winner!

Cheers,

Tim
It's a fine album by a very talented singer.
I'll get round to fixing it drekkly me 'ansome.

I'm a great fan of Sandy Denny, mainly for her work with Fairport and Fotheringay.
I have her 'Anthology' album as well as a trio of Fairport albums

Some people don't like tribute bands but when half the band is no longer with us what choice do you have if you like the music? Anyway, I saw this lot for the second time on Friday night at the Bell (quite fitting as they played the Division Bell). All I can say is awesome. Ok so I could say a lot more than just that but you know me, I like to keep my comments brief. Just a taster below but if you ever get the chance to see them make sure you do:

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

Sounds very good to me John @Trainfish . Have you been following Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets? Obviously not a tribute band as such but I like that they do some of the not so obvious early PF back catalogue.

Cheers,

Tim

I've listened to some of the stuff done on that tour and wish I had gone to see him doing it in Bath about 18 months ago (I think). £120 per ticket if I remember rightly and I couldn't really afford it then. I think I bought another class 50 instead.

I have been to Nick Mason's house though  :D

This is a true story, when I was working for Network Rail on the Thameslink Programme (Borough Market Viaduct) I challenged the senior commercial manager to find me some Hawkwind on a streaming platform he was going on about (a bit rarer in those days - 2009ish). He duly provided me with a CD of this live Hawkwind concert filmed at Nottingham along with some Curved Air.

I think it's fantastic showcasing some brilliant musicianship from the band in 1990 and no standards from the early days. Does anyone remember Simon House (violin) in High Tide, here is a reminder, pretty heavy stuff...

Motorhead. Again,,,had to miss a gig by Alestorm, they`re playing Saturday, I start work at 0745 Sunday :)

Newportnobby

Sorry, Tim, but High Tide did nothing for me and that Hawkwind doesn't hold a candle to the line up I saw all those years ago. I think I'm just an old stick in the mud Hector ;D

Ah well Mick, as they say "one man's meat is another man's poison"! I have only seen Hawkwind line-ups in 1972 (Space Ritual Tour) and 1974.

Cheers,

Tim

I saw them 4 times - twice on the release of 'In search of space' and twice on the 'Space Ritual' tours. Hmmmm - Stacia
At Wellingborough Simon King pummelled hell out of his drum kit and walked off wearing just a towel

When Hawkwind came to our Uni their PA stack was so big we could not hear the music just distortion and that was three floors below the venue.  Frankly the production was rubbish, regardless of the quality of the music.  c1977/8
