Well in the interests of completeness... we have been with BT for decades and (touch wood) never had any problems.  We currently use their Halo 1 Fibre service and the performance is good.

I purchased their latest router (off eBay) and installed the Whole Home WiFi and this is great too (although not as good as the adverts would have you believe!).

My daughter has just signed up with PlusNet (which is basically BT by another name) and is also very happy.

Just thought I'd add here that most, if not all (depending on where you live) ISP's piggy-back off Openreach's Kit, especially if you have a copper pair to the house, both inside the Exchange and outside in the street furniture so most of the issues people have with ISP's is down to their version of customer service.

Quite true @ShakyZZR.  But what I actually meant is that BT owns PlusNet.
