We've just suffered from the jobsworth bin men this morning (possibly because they were in a bad mood due to two badly parked cars making access very difficult).

Since Covid, the blue (paper and card) bin  has not been allowed to be used for tissues, due to infection risk. I've gone out to bring our bin in and found it still full, with a tag on - "rejected due to tissues" ... they are very clearly not loose tissues, but the cardboard toilet roll tubes, where the end sheets are glued to them and of no infection risk at all.

A call to the council and they agreed that it should not have been rejected, but they can't override the contracted collection company. There are no phone numbers for the company, just a web complaint form, whose options do not allow you to contest a wrongly applied tag.

I've done the best I can with it, but now have to wait to hear back from them. Meanwhile the bin is full, there are five of us and the next collection is not for four weeks.

That's not clever. As you say, perhaps they were in a bad mood.
We get our bins emptied every two weeks with them alternating between general waste and recycling waste each Tuesday

Bealman

Same happens here, sort of. General waste weekly. green waste weekly, recycling stuff fortnightly.

We used to have a single, black, 240l bin, collected weekly. They changed to a grey, non-recyclables, 140l bin (we still have 240l as there are five of us) collected fortnightly, a green, garden and food waste bin, collected weekly, a blue, paper and card, bin collected monthly and repurposed the black bins for plastics and glass, collected monthly. So we go Grey/Green, Blue/Green, Grey/Green, Black/Green over 4 weeks.

The last month covered both our eldest son's birthday and our wedding anniversary, plus we bought a number of items, so the bin is very full now. The coming month sees my birthday and our middle son's birthday.

If the council don't send out a special collection, I am going to have to have a big bonfire!

You must have the same binmen as us. General & recycling on a Tuesday, green waste the following Tuesday and so on. Green waste is this Tuesday coming.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

Can't you just put it in others' bins when they're not looking?  :D

Personally I would be :censored: (changed by forum)-o-grams to local MP, local council leader and the ,local press. I have found that this creates a quick response!

The Q

We're lucky, just two bins green recycling and black rubbish there is an optional pay for brown garden waste bin.

My parents in Scotland, have red , green, black, brown 240ltr bins plus a blue box , and a grey food waste little bin.

Trainfish

Food waste bin? That would never be used in our house.

It's only for grey food, and that doesn't sound appetising at all
