Hi chaps,

On a course this week in Wokingham and need a railway fix... Are there any shops nearby that open late one day??

I have a car and we finish about 4:30-5 each night...so need a late one if possible..

Any help appreciated..

None that I know of.   :'(

Of course, if someone else knows of one the information could make me a happy bunny, Wokingham isn't too far from me.

Aside from the usual Modelzones, the only one in that area was at North Camp...which closed a few years ago. Roxey Models are the other side of Guildford, and they have a wide selection of stuff...but not sure of their opening hours.

The opposite side sees 'Happy Bob' at Alton Models. Again, probably a bit far...

If you are thinking of the model shop in Bookham Claulde they close at 16.30

Allegedly there is a model shop in Twyford not far from Wokingham but it is only open until 5.00p.m.

Here is the info on it :-

Cheers, Joe. I go to a bridge at Ruscombe to watch trains, about 5 minutes drive from there. I'll have to check it out.

Nice one thanks!

It's on the same road as the Hotel so I'll give it a try if I get out early enough  :)

Managed to make a trip this evening. What a nice part of the world it is too.

They have just moved into the premises and didn't have everything out. They have a small selection of N'Gauge stuff. More OO as with all shops. Nice chaps and worth a visit if your nearby.

I picked up two second hand NE wagons and a Metcalfe kit to build to kill the Hotel boredom.

I pitched up at Tywford station and what a treat! Hung about for 20 mins or so and saw 7 HSTs and lots of 166 and 165s. Also has a single track branch to Henley. None of those up my way. Also a Class 66 hammered through with about 15 wagons. Not being into modern stuff no idea what they were. They had brown tarps over them but were quite big.

Right time for the scalpel  :)

There's also "MDR Direct" in Cookham high street (just down the road from where I live!): http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/shops/491-MDR_Direct___Fleischmann_Direct
They specialise in Continental N and HO, but have a fair amount of British N gauge too, mostly Grafar. They also have a good range of Peco track, scenic accessories, etc.

MDR is pretty good in cookham, parking pretty awful unless you can grap a space in the highstreet.
There's also a model shop in Marlow, just off the high street in station road ( I think the owner belongs to the maidenhead and marlow model railway club), plus there's also a model shop in maidenhead, westborough road I believe. He also does 2nd hand sometimes.
Any way good luck

Thanks for this info folks, very useful...

I drive the 165 and 166 Turbos on FGW, on the branches to Henley and Marlow, so some wandering during breaks may be in order  :NGF:

Cheers, Timmo
There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Railway...
