Wow, the local south east Queensland flooding sure is having an impact.  Worst I have seen since 1974.  Main roads cut all over the place in SE QLD and Northern NSW as the rain depression moves south.
The local Coles supermarket is practically bare.  No fruit, half a dozen potatoes, no fresh vegetables beside some cauliflower, very little milk and eggs.
Canned and bottled food are diminishing.  Plenty of meat though.
A massive distribution centre for Coles is only about 1km away in a non-flooded area so it must be emptying also.
Northern NSW is a mess.

Good luck to Sydney. :(
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

Yes, we've been seeing it here on the news. I was married in Casino and know the Lismore area very well. It is indeed a mess.

At the moment here in Wollongong, it's not even raining, but it rained heavily through the night, and some parts of the Illawarra have had roads closed.

My sympathies to all in the north. Houses underwater up to the roof! And most of those are built on stilts!

Good luck!

Just watching some guy on the news, rescued 40 people in his little tin fishing boat. But the death toll appears to be mounting.

how far is that from your fenceline? that would worry me, if it is anything like my local creek which goes from a gentle trickle to raging torrent after a downpour.

Bealman

A couple of metres. But all is usually OK. The creek came up in three minutes, but when the rain stops, it drains quickly.

I just wish the council would clear the bloody thing out once every 20 years  :worried:

You can't rely on councils to do their job, howabout getting some neighbours to help and DIY.
KISS = Keep it simple stupid

Bealman

Several reasons why that is not feasible.

That creek is the bottom end of an escarpment where the water comes from.

It is a hell of a lot to clear away. It couldn't be done by hand even with an army of neighbors.

It will take an excavator.

Add to that, I'm not as spritely as I once was, and I ain't gonna do the councils job for them

it's been one of those days ....

walking HB up though the woods and a squirrel took off from the brambles on the right, across the path in front of us, and up a tree.

result, I'm on the ground, HB is trying to climb the tree, ....

at home I get one of those annoying 'SMS?' phone calls, which I know is going to be some  :censored: trying to con me.....

and then I check the post, and HMRC [otherwise known as Her Majesty's Robbing  :censored:] have sent me my tax codes for the year, gloating no doubt on how much of my pensions, which I worked for all my life from 16 to 68, they are managing to screw out of me.......

I wish I hadn't woken up this morning......

and don't even start me on the fact that when, for the first time in years, the month used to calculate pension increases for the following year actually meant a decent increase, the goalposts were moved so we once again got sod all. :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry:

Grrrr. I spent a load of money that I shouldn't have at the Preston Show on Saturday.

Then, on Saturday night, our cat was limping badly. We hung on 'til Sunday morning and he was still not using his left-front paw at all, so off to the emergency vet, at extortionate cost ... only for him to walk around on all fours and have no sign of any problem when we got there!

Today I have been WFH, only to have my work (and pay) interrupted by me having to deal with the truck driver, then his company and our insurance company, as a passing truck removed the rear bumper from my wife's parked car.

On top of that, my wife is now at the dentist for a crown.

My wallet is crying :(

Sell the crown and your wallet will soon cheer up

I'm full of bright ideas. One day I may let one of them out  :hmmm:

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

In emergencies, Rowntree's Orange Jelly mixed with wood shavings can see you through ;)
