Talking of dreamy, how about this for a little melodic soul/funk from Australia.
This is The Cactus Channel :

Or this slightly more upbeat offering :

Hi Mick, Hammock is somewhere between Bowie/Eno and Tangerine Dream so I should like it but somehow it does not grab me.

Hi Martin, the first track by The Cactus Channel is pleasant enough but the second track has a bit more oomph for me - so a thumbs up for both!

Thanks for posting chaps,

Tim

For something a bit dreamy but also with a bit of bite...

I have a number of Jade Warrior albums but liked this one the best. A bit derided at the time but IMO ahead of their time.

Flippin eck, someone else has heard of Hammock, thought it was only me.

KLAMMER. (sic) today.

I like this topic because it's the only way I can discover new/forgotten music as I don't listen to the radio anymore.

Here's my contribution, for all you hippies out there :

I don't think I've ever met anyone else who have heard of Tonton Macoute. They were four piece (I think) prog/jazz rock outfit from the very early 70s.
I saw them, along with about 25 other hardy souls with nothing better to do, in a pub in Bath when I was about 17.
I remember nothing else about the performance but I bought their album about 5 years later as part of a bargain bundle of 4 LPs for £1 in Woolworths (remember them?).
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the album. This, I think, is the standout track :

Nope, never heard of them Martin! There is a good vibe (literally) going here and I rather like it. Slightly derivative of other bands of the period. I wonder what happened to the individual players - they seem pretty competent to me?

In the meantime, how about this Thin Lizzy cover... pretty hot to me!!

Thanks Tim.
Never heard of Space Elevator but I like it.
Like it enough to investigate further.

Thanks Martin, here is Space Elevator covering Queen's "Innuendo"...

And a rather rough but fun version of Rush's "Spirit of Radio"...

Here is one for John @Trainfish , I normally don't go for tribute bands (bar a few exceptions); however, I thought this was interesting. I liked "Atom Heart Mother" and probably bought it after hearing "Meddle" and "Ummagumma" (pre DSOTM). See what you think...

I'm not a huge fan of tribute bands either unless of course they are very very good or I've never seen the original band. That is a very good version Tim.
We went to see this guy last weekend at the Southgate in Devizes. I'm not a huge fan of looping either especially when it's used to the extent he uses it but if you shut your eyes and listened at this gig, and I frequently did, then it was very good. And free. Not many people can do decent Floyd tracks on their own hence the looping.

Ps, where are these class 50s? I looked on the Dapol site but only saw 3. 2 of which were DCC sound and a green one.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

Thank John @Trainfish , I will listen to the video later. The two Class 50s were under special offers but not really bargains (IMO).

Still listening to this band, 50 years ago I bought Argus.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.
