I won a Farish FGW Barbie HST train pack on a well-known auction site for use on my Fisherlea layout.

This will be used as a high-powered DMU substitute as part of a plan involving buying two Dapol Mk3s in FGW "dynamic lines" livery, to create a hybrid livery representing the situation as of early 2008.

Farish's power cars depict the Barbie livery with a much larger proportion of white.
Strictly speaking, the white areas were repainted blue by the time FGW switched over to their brighter, plain blue livery from around 2007

Later FGW livery as a comparison with their earlier Barbie livery (on first page of PDF):

Seems like Christmas again (thanks Uncle Farish). Yesterday the 4F and class 37 - today the class 31..................

My wallet has just committed hari-kiri as the Cumbrian Mountain Express pack should not be long now.

I hope so. Actually, I'm surprised it hasn't been on the same boat... :confused1:
Anyway, all locos looking great! Very nice additions.

I would like a class 31 but I will wait until they produce one without a yellow panel (skinhead even?) but my wallet is quivering in the corner as Ally pally is not far away.

Certainly was like Christmas here. Definitely no smelly kettles here but MRD sent me the blue class 31, the only Yeoman wagon they had and 1 more MGR hopper. Then a card through the door to say there was a weathered blue 37 and 5 more MGR wagons from Rails waiting for me at Sainsbury's. Never before have I been so keen to go to the supermarket

As you can see below they're a lot more in focus in real life

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

Some kind of anthropomorphic kettle with a creepy face. Sold to yours truly as a non-runner for about a fiver. With the aid of a coupling spring applied to a place coupling springs are not normally found, it is now running round the layout scaring the daylights out of the other trains.

Bealman

Let's see the spooky face then....  :uneasy:

Tomix, I presume, and I'm also interested in where the place is that coupling springs are not normally found.... poor old James - I know I wouldn't like a coupling spring where it's not normally found  :worried:

Mussin'd have bothered him much though if he's going now  :D
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

Yup, Tomix. The spring is very definitely inserted somewhere where the sun don't shine :D. Not that I imagine the sun shines much on Sodor anyway. I'll post graphic pictures on a more suitable thread once I'm sure it really works.

Edited to add: here's a blurry video selfie to give yourself nightmares.

Bought some Blue/Grey HST coaches to use with either my Blue/Grey  OR Executive livery HST's, only problem the coach roofs are grey when they should be black

Looks like it will be airbrush time to correct them. ::)

cheers, Stu.

A quick fix for a reasonable job is Halfords satin black spray tin.. pretty well matches the Dapol black to my eyes!

Two more wagons join the fleet, both with a south western theme.

Castle Estates container on a Conflat Wagon and a weathered, insulated van (for through trains from North Cornwall).
