While researching some info for my own layout I came across this picture. Can anyone explain what's going on here with the lower part as it doesn't make a lot of sense to me  :confused1:

Note: I kept it as a link as I got just as confused about the copyright thingymajig as I did with the bridge.

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

That looks like they've braced the walls of the arch for some reason. Possibly one of the supports was bulging?

Interesting! Not quite as picturesque as those two bridges in Canada, though, where the CN crosses the CP ( or is it the other way round?)

I agree though, it looks like some sort of bracing. It's sure spoilt the look of the bridge!

Definitely looks like some kind of bracing. (Either that or a deterrent to giraffes).

I used to have one of those Triang boxcars with the giraffe sticking out that would duck when it went under a bridge....  :worried:

Wouldn't it easier to have a Triang boxcar with a duck sticking out?  Then it wouldn't need to duck.
