I’m thinking of making some of those coaches in the Railway Series with light umber and a yellow stripe, probably a fictional pre-rail blue regional livery? Like the ones here https://ttte.fandom.com/wiki/Enterprising_Engines/Gallery?file=SuperRescueRS4.png https://ttte.fandom.com/wiki/Enterprising_Engines/Gallery?file=LittleWesternRS5.png

I recently saw that Etched Pixels sell Mk1 coach sides in requests (though I think they won’t ship anything until upcoming April?)
I assume the older farish mk1s can get the sides replaced with the etched ones?

Yes, the older style Mk1 will accept the etched sides from Etched Pixels.

The older Farish mainline and suburban coaches are worth looking at. They did four in LNER "teak" which might work well for you - catalogue numbers 0623, 0622, 0602 and 0612. You'll need to find them on eBay or second hand sellers. They'd be a good base for James and Gordons coaches too.

Dapol's Maunsell coaches are worth looking at too - the Thomas Green Express coaches are based on them. They're less expensive than the current Farish Mk1s if you're looking to do a repaint of a RTR model.

The coaches with the Hymek in your second picture would probably be standard BR maroon coaches which had black/yellow lining down the side.

Are you repainting some Farish models to represent the Sodor engines?

The Ultima/Etched Pixels design of replacement sides was deliberately sized to fit the Poole/early Chinese coach body.

Hi

I believe that's because they are to 1:152 rather than 1:148.

I'm getting some of the bodyshells from Sparkshot https://www.shapeways.com/shops/sparkshotcustomcreationsscc?li=pb, who downscaled some of his HO stuff.

I currently started on Thomas, and the only model that I plan on repainting would be Henry and the rest would probably be painted bodyshells on chassis.

Does TMC do renumbering for fictional numbers? If so I would probably get a Hymek renumbered 7101 later on

I could knock up some Electra Rail vinyls to fit the old-style Farish Mk1 shell in any livery / window configuration. Just recently completed a 57ft Caledonian Railway camping coach to fir the full brake.
