Good for you RST, let's hope it leads on to other things

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

After receiving my Train-Tech sound modules minus any batteries (see Angry Thread) , and wondering where I could get the right type batteries here in Tenerife, just called into our nearby small Supermarket for some milk, and there by the Till was a load of batteries on display including the CR2032 batteries I need.

As soon as I got home I tried one and the sound module works - hoorah!
Unfortuneately can't try one on my layout tonight as running the weekly Fun Quiz in our Bar very shortly.

However earlier today I did have some free time to spend in my storeroom as the misses was away chairing a meeting of her Communidad Committee, and I tried double heading a rack of carriages on my layout for the 1st time, and it worked fine and looked good so I am going to double head another train combination with some more locomtives.

I used a Farish green Class 24 with helping out behind it a new model Farish green Class 25/1. Pulled really well up inclines and very happy with the comination whether it was true to life or not (Rule 1 invoked).

Might have one or two beers at the Quiz tonight (usually do anyway) and sleep well and contented when I get home. Was up very early this morning taking the wife for a blood test at the local hospital, and was up early yesterday as well, so due a good nights rest, and to help me sleep better think I will have a Brandy as a nightcap as well.

As a contract software engineer, the last few weeks of a contract can be stressful looking for more work with imminent zero income approaching!

But with 5 weeks to go I've been offered a contract at a company I've worked at before :) best part is there's no interview!

Yours happily
Michael

Thanks Dave, Caz and newportnobby!

My current contract is with a company who have a policy of only keeping contractors for two separate 18 month stints with a gap between them. This is my second 18 months, so the likelihood of renewal was slim. My line manager offered me a permie role several times...

My new contract is working on a simply awesome (to me anyway) vehicle :)

I know how it goes Michael, I was a freelance systems integrator for 20 years. All recommendations are by word of mouth and you are only as good as your last job. I was fortunate in that I only had 2 months out of work, when MTV bought out a channel I was contracted to update. They closed it down so I was sitting at home for a while.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

A number of good reasons to feel happier today :-

1) A Hattons parcel arrived with some goodies in it.
2) My experiments with Train-techs sound modules on my DC system are progressing well.
3) My wife is now in receipt of her own U.K. State Pension, and today got accepted into the
Canarian Heath System as a "Pensionista" in her own right (as apposed to being a
    dependant of mine).
4) Train-tech said they would send me a complete replacement for the sound module on
    which the speaker disconnected itself.
5) My 4 car EMU locomotive car started running O.K. again after playing up recently.

Might have another jar or two when out tonight.

Val and I went up to the Barbican to see RUMER .last night.
Val wasn't very keen on going but Char our daughter bought two tickets for me for Christmas so we could have an evening out together,
What an amazing evening at the end of the concert we all stood and clapped so we had an oncore and even Val was most impressed.
RUMER has a fantastic voice some times you would think it was Karen Carpenter
But slightly deeper .
All in all a realy great evening .
I think we need a new thread not happy but ECSTATIC.
