Cherry Hill, one of the world's foremost scale model engineers, has died aged 93.

Anyone with any interest in scale modelling and/or engineering, really ought to know of this pioneering model maker and engineer. Mrs Hill was an inspiration to me and greatly influenced my career as an engineer.

Requiesce in pace.

NScaleNotes

Fascinating. Good for her; it looks like she spent a lifetime doing what she loved.

There's an archive of almost all of her work here: IMechE Virtual Archive

Each model (working btw) was built entirely from scratch in metal; taking anywhere up to 7000 hours!

Safety Engineer

Women engineers in that day and age were a rarity. When I started work in engineering in the mid sixties they were a rarity. Much better in this day and age. Good on her to have overcome the preduces that must have existed at that time.
