Standard 5MT?

That's lovely

Was toying with the idea of getting one of these with my Christmas money, but modern traction won out in the end. Still, in the future I may be going down the "railtour" route, so would be interested in running qualities.

My haul from Santa (Thanks mum!)
Nice haul! Those Oxford vehicles are very nice. Did you give you mum a list or did she just draw pot luck?

Not quite rail-related but Mrs. Squid decreed that we need a new and better camera for the spawn so Santa went out and found a Nikon D5300 with a normal lense and a zoom lense for a very reasonable price. Nicer camera than I've ever had before. No doubt I'll be able to experiment on the odd train or too.

Only 2 railway related pressies but they are good ones (I think)
I had hinted that I really needed a better soldering iron/station so I received

Not too much railway-related stuff...there never is I'm afraid!

Being away on holiday for much of December meant that minimal preparations were needed - fortunately my sister invited us over for Christmas dinner. I did get a 3-D jigsaw of Flying Scotsman, a new cello case (the old one was pretty much dead), a book about Harrison Birtwistle and a Sherlock DVD.

However, a couple of arrivals from Japan did turn up to augment the railway collection (although ordered some time ago) - a new Kato DD13 in blue livery and a diecast Keisei Tokyo Shuttle bus

I print off my wishlist from Hattons and she chooses for xmas/ birthdays. She's now on first name terms with the staff there! :)

I got a Raspberry Pi... thinking of possibly using it to control points/signals...
They're there for their tea.

I'm thinking of having mine with custard!!
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

I have the Late Crest version of the Standard 5 (73158 - now renumbered as a 'Standard Arthur') and it's a great runner. No problems with it whatsoever...

Santa brought me renewed enthusiasm, the greatest gift of all.

This time last year I was ready for packing it in for one reason or another, but having had a break (but kept lurking here) I'm back. Some great looking loco's are now out but more importantly I've started to practice some of the modelling skills to make me more than just a collector/hoarder.

2015 will see me develop my test loop into a mini layout as such with various modelling features that I can hone my skills on for a future 'proper' layout.

You are not the only one Me Stevieboy, during my visit to my family, I have revisited the location for my next big project and deapite losing interrest for a while, a site visit has changed all that. I am now raring to go in addition to extra information through another forum. I am soon to be going home to develop a full track and then layout plans for the project which should be started really soon!!

Happy new year to ya all!!

Well Welcome back!  :D

I decided to buy myself a extra NCE cab controller for my layout. I ordered it from Digitrains on New Years day thinking I should receive it early next week, it arrived this morning with Royal Mail.
Digitrains what service and Royal mail did pretty good too. :)
