:'( Its my fault you realise. There we were sitting downstairs having a cuppa like you do mid afternoon when theres a crashed and something upstairs (?) obviously fell over and scared us all.
Now the lounge (cuppa room)  is directly below the railway room  :-[
I got extremely glared at and unkind names given to me  >:(
I came directly upstairs and checked out the layout etc.
[/It wasn't my fault b] everything looked as it should.
SWMBO obeyd went outside to have a look round out there.
She found a couple of handful of dried out mortar which she had picked up off the neighbouring side road
I now have the pleasure of phoning round looking for a decent handyman to sort it out along with a few other jobs on the ever-growing 'roundtoit list.......... and paying for it all  :censored:

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

In the absence of a 'mildly annoyed thread' I'll post this here...
Like most do, our small, local supermarket uses lighting with a colour cast to make fruit and vegetables look better. Unfortunately the tiny office supplies section is just there too. The consequence of that being that the pack of 'white' A5 card that I bought today turns out to be lemon yellow under my daylight bulb.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr and other expressions of that nature......
"When in trouble, when in doubt, run (trains) in circles..." etc.
There, doesn't that feel better?
Lovely!

Maybe you could make a lemon entry, my dear Watson

Just put a line of glue across the top of each page and hey presto, A5 post-it notes! Made of card.

I'm not helping am I?  :-[

Brilliant!  :laughabovepost: ;D

I have just filled in an online form. Under 'Sex' it asks if I am Male or Female - what happens if I am a Hermaphrodite  ??? (I'm not by the way ). But the one thing that does annoy me on forms  :veryangry: is when the form asks for 'Nationality' - can I find a box for 'English' ? Can I  :censored:. I can be 'United Kingdom' but not 'English' - I was born in England, (well, Yorkshire  and proud of it!).  :veryangry: I have seen forms that allow you to put 'Scottish' or 'Welsh' but not 'English'!

Unless there's an English nation state, it's highly unlikely you could describe nationality as "English". What does your passport say?

I don't want to start 'splitting hairs', but if a man is from France, he is described as 'French', if he is from Wales, he is 'Welsh' - I am from England.

Out of interest, I have just looked at an online dictionary and I quote -

adjective
of, relating to, or characteristic of England or its inhabitants, institutions, etc.

noun
the people of England collectively, especially as distinguished from the Scots, Welsh, and Irish. (my italics).

As I said in my OP, I consider myself to be 'English'  ;). David.
