Agreed - never forget those who gave their lives for our freedom - but also never forget those who fought or worked for the final victory, no matter where they served.  My father died last year, and it was only a few months before he died when he finally spoke to me about his service in the Royal Navy. He was an engineer serving on a British escort carrier in the Pacific. What little he told me it sounded quite hairy at times. But he still lived well into his 80's.

My dad was on landing craft on gold beach? He could never
Talk about it .That was the only thing he would tell me were he was
And what he did? Ended his days in navy on armed trawlers

I salute them and will always remember them and be grateful for our freedom that they fought so hard for..
every single one of them a hero.

I agree.  My Dad was in the FAA but not until after D-Day..

...but I served alongside lots of them."
