I agree. I think the font in people's posts is a shade of grey whereas the text while I am typing here shows up black. It would be better if it was black everywhere.

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

The font looks black to me, just a different style to that used in the text editor.
Wouldn't want general post text to become too thick and similar to bold text

Try increasing your browser zoom level for the forum page, I've made it 110% and it makes the font appear a bit darker.

I have been doing that anyway but it would be nice if it was easy in the first place like most other sites.

If as suggested it it the 'guests' causing the problems, might it be an idea to have all guests have to sign in.
this happens on a wargames site I use, and seems to stop this.

No issues with speed here at Papyrus Acres...

879 'guests' at present which does seem an awful lot. How can you tell if they are all legit?

Cheers,

Chris

PS. It's shooting up as you watch. 908 now.

I would second that. There are a few threads available without logging in, but bots abuse such systems and I'm all for just putting up a simple fence and gate to keep them at bay.

I would just move all the threads and sections behind the login.

I had the message about the "stressed server" several times yesterday and then again earlier on today. It does seem that we have an awful lot of "guests" logged on as opposed to members (over 900 just now and only 40 members). I agree with what Ross and others have suggested, and have everyone sign in.

Also, "guests" seem to be able to view a quite number of topics/threads at the moment and given the minimal amount a "guest" used to be able to see I was wondering if as an unintended outcome of the upgrade the rules have inadvertently been changed?
