these were in the n gauge journal new products pages...

i assume they are inserts to make rolling stock go over the points smoother???  can anyone describe them better than that??  has anyone tried them out???

Makes an insulfrog point into an electrofrog point, assuming you attach a feed wire and a changeover switch.   Similar looking frog to what you find on some other manufacturer's points (Kato come to mind).

I think I prefer the look of a genuine electrofrog point to be honest, but I suppose if your track is already laid and ballasted they could be a solution.

I seen similar components for G scale points (although I converted my G scale Peco points myself with spare rail)

We did have suggestions a while ago about putting microstrip insets into the area before the frog to prevent the dip which modern wheels cause particularly in short wheelbase wagons.  Peco still make points which are compatible with older coarser wheels and it is a shame that at least with Code 55 they haven't modernised the specification.
:helpneededsign: Has anyone advice about the thickness and shape of the ideal insert?

Hi LAandNQFan,

I used a small piece of plastic to prevent the nasty wheel dip.
Best result i had was a thickness of 0,4mm.

Funnily enough, I've recently been grumbling over the past few months as the code 55 frogs on my last batch of pointwork are definitely shallower than they used to be, and I've had to deepen them a little to satisfy my older stock!   Same with recent OO9 pointwork on my lad's layout.   Absolutely no problem with the older code 55 pointwork that's been on my layout since the 90s.

:-[  I looked at the thread and found that I had contributed to it!     Does anyone know where I can get a replacement memory module to suit a size nine and a half head?
Apologies for putting you to the trouble of reminding me, André.
