Thalys is an international high-speed train operator that is operated by Thalys International. They started operating in 1996 and link France with Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany. The core route is the Paris Gare du Nord - Brussels South (locally known as Bruxelles Gare du Midi or Brussel Zuid) which is operated up to twice per hour.

The main routes are as follows:

  1. Paris Nord - Bruxelles Midi / Brussel Zuid - Liège / Luik Guillemins - Aachen Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) - Köln Hbf, with some extended to Dusseldorf Hbf and Essen Hbf
  2. Paris Nord - Bruxelles Midi / Brussel Zuid - Antwerpen Centraal / Anvers Central - Rotterdam Centraal - Schiphol Airport - Amsterdam Centraal
  3. Paris Nord - Bruxelles Midi / Brussel Zuid - Gent / Gand St Pieters - Brugge / Bruges - Oostende / Ostend
  4. Gare de Lille Europe - Bruxelles Midi / Brussel Zuid - Antwerpen Centraal / Anvers Central - Rotterdam Centraal - Amsterdam Centraal

There are also seasonal services from Brussels - summer services to Avignon and Marseilles and winter services to Chambéry, Moûtiers and Bourg - St Maurice.

Train services are operated by two TGV-derived models. The earlier PBA model is used on services linking France, Belgium and The Netherlands while the PBKA trains serve Germany as well as the other three countries. The names provide clues in this regard, as PBA means "Paris - Bruxelles/Brussel - Amsterdam" and PBKA means " Paris - Bruxelles/Brussel - Köln (Cologne) - Amsterdam".
