Review

I bought this after hearing a lot about it being "the best steam video I've ever seen" or similar. Having now seen it, I completely understand what all the fuss is about. Superb.

Apart from a minute or so in black and white, the DVD has 90 minutes of HIGH QUALITY colour footage. The unique selling point is it's mainly shot in the late 40s and 1950s, a period when most people just weren't shooting colour, so there's a rich pageant of BR Blue Kings & Bulleid Pacifics, malachite green and other pre-nationalisation colour schemes amongst the early BR stock.

Very strong on blood & custard rakes of coaches, not to mention GWR stock in chocolate and cream. Not much in the way of BR standards and hardly any diesels at all.

I really can't recommend this one highly enough. If you've any interest in steam in the south-west of the country, this DVD is without question a must!
