Stocklist

Please note that this list is not exhaustive.

Locomotives

The locomotive stocklist is divided into historically appropriate categories, starting with pre-Grouping companies up to 1923 (or 1930 in the case of the S&DJR), then the four Grouping companies, then British Railways, and then other companies and organisations that ran their own locomotives after 1948. By default, locomotives within each list are ordered generally by wheel arrangement and class, but this is not exclusive.

Coaches

The coaches stocklist is divided into historically appropriate categories, starting with pre-Grouping companies up to 1923 (or 1930 in the case of the S&DJR), then the four Grouping companies along with special liveried coaches of that era (such as Pullman), then British Railways, and then other companies and organisations that operated their own coaches after 1948.

0623 1787 SR Mainline Composite Corridor Coach 1st/3rd Maunsell Green Generally similar to a Restriction 1 Maunsell 57' body. The upper edges of windows on the corridor side are inaccurately placed, putting this model halfway between being Maunsell 'low-window' stock of 1926-1934 and Maunsell 'high-window' stock of 1929-1934. Historically, the lined livery dates from 1925, while the lower continuous line under the rounded boxes was deleted by mid-1929. The running number seems never to have been used by the SR, although it falls within a numbering batch that was assigned to thirds in 1924 (this would have been ex-LBSCR stock which the Maunsell coach would have replaced).
0633 2763 SR Mainline Brake Corridor Coach 3rd Class Maunsell Green As above. The running number is accurate, having been used by a Maunsell six-compartment brake third, diagram 2102, which was built at Eastleigh in Feb-April 1932.
0603 7253 SR Suburban Non-Corridor Coach 1st/3rd Class Maunsell Green Generally similar to 1909 LSWR non-corridor carriages. Historically, lined livery dates from 1925, while the lower continuous line under the rounded boxes was deleted by mid-1929. It is unclear whether the running number was actually used by the SR, but it was within a range that was set aside for former SECR first class coaches in 1924.
0613 2697 SR Suburban Non-Corridor Brake Coach 3rd Class Maunsell Green As above. It is unclear whether the running number was actually used by the SR, but it was within a range that was set aside for former LSWR brake thirds in 1924.
NR62S 1787 SR Mainline Composite Corridor Coach 1st/3rd Maunsell Green Early 1970s unlined production version of the later lined SR carriage. See the lined version, above, for further details. Historically, completely unlined carriages appeared on the SR by 1935, but all versions were in use simultaneously.
NR63S 2763 SR Mainline Brake Corridor Coach 3rd Class Maunsell Green As above.
NR60S 2697 SR Suburban Non-Corridor Coach 1st/3rd Class Maunsell Green As above.
NR61S 7253 SR Suburban Non-Corridor Brake Coach 3rd Class Maunsell Green As above.
?  ? SR 4-Wheel 1st Class Coach Maunsell Green Generally similar to pre-Grouping 4-wheel stock. Historically this was withdrawn on the LSWR prior to grouping, but continued in use on the LBSCR and SECR into the Grouping period. This coach carries the lined livery which dates from 1925, although the lower continuous line under the rounded boxes was deleted by mid-1929.
0663 5303 SR 4-Wheel 1st/3rd Class Brake Maunsell Green As above.
