Commuter Trains of the 21st Century #2: AC EMUs (blu-ray)

Train Crazy/Videoscene

Official blurb from Videoscene's website

The second in the brand new four-part series looking at commuter trains across the UK features AC Electric Multiple Units.

From Edinburgh and Glasgow and the west coast of Scotland, through the north west of England, Yorkshire, the Midlands and into the south east and East Anglia, there are currently 22 classes of AC EMU in operation.

From the 1976-built Class 313s to the high-speed Class 395 ‘Javelins’ and the latest batch of Class 379s, this programme looks at every class and sub class of AC EMU operating today: 313, 314, 315, 317, 318, 319, 320, 321, 322, 323, 325, 332, 333, 334, 350, 357, 360, 365, 377, 379, 380 and 395.

Introduced with fleet details, allocations and formations, each different type of train is shown, many in different liveries, plus depot line-ups and internal footage, all filmed 2011-2013.

Produced by - Train Crazy Running time - 120 Minutes Format - 16:9 widescreen DVD or Blu-Ray

I bought this a couple of days ago and have watched it twice already. Apart from one or two slightly shaky shots where the locations presumably forced hand-held shooting, 100% high quality, high definition footage of modern commuter EMUs. Well composed, well filmed, well lit professional footage.

If, like me, you're interested in colourful modern EMUs this is total eye-candy. Highly recommended, I enjoyed it so much I ordered Volume 1 (Class 67s) for further viewing :)

NB 1 - Commuter EMUs only, doesn't included Pendolinos. NB 2 - The Blu-Ray is as sharp as a tack, but the programme is also available on DVD for those viewing in old money.
