Anyrail is a model railway track planning software. A limited version is available for free, which allows fifty track pieces to be laid so that users have a chance to evaluate and get used to the software before deciding whether to make a licence purchase or not.
There are a range of ways to design your layout, from pen and paper to one of the new generation of computer programmes. When it comes to the latter, one of the most flexible and easy to learn is AnyRail.
User Hints & Tips
- When constructing structures, walls, etc, you can hide the structure stretch handles at each corner (the large, very obvious circles at each point of your shape) by creating an extra shape next to it, changing its colour so that it is completely invisible, and grouping it with your visible structure. The stretch handles disappear. Alternatively, group two or more separate structures together. Another way of achieving this is to minimise the thickness of the outline to 0.05. It's still there and can be selected so that you can move the shape, but it's barely visible.
