Zimo sound decoders, good price at hattons
« on: August 27, 2020, 12:05:19 AM »
Hi all

Just been looking on Hattons and they have a number of Zimo 6 pin direct fit sound decoders for sale at £60 each

Currently loaded with class 31 sounds but can be reblown by your favourite sound provider, price includes a speaker, so quite a saving on the new price of around £105 with speaker.

Would as seen but might still be worth a punt.

Search Zimo on their site

That's a very good price if you are up to the task of a custom sound fit/reblow and replacing the pins with wires.

Even if you are not they are still a good price given that a reblow can be had for around £15 and many  sound friendly models like the class 101, 108, Midland Pullman etc all take a 6 Pin decoder. Even some not so sound friendly will take the longer sound decoder but need more thought as to speaker location.

It's also quite easy to replace the pins with wires if needed.

Second hand decoders of unknown provenance, with an unknown speaker, Ďsold as seení?

£15 for a re-blow plus two lots of postage, and the initial postage from Hattonís. Itís probably nearer £90, unless you happen to want a 31 Iím not sure itís that compelling myself.

If looking for the negatives then its obviously not for you.But what if someone had a class 31 they were looking to put sound into, I doubt Hattons would knowingly sell dead decoders, given how important reputation is in the on-line world, these are still a good price if you are looking for a 31 decoder.
