@Euston   German ebay?    It's DCC but will still run on analogue DC.  It's coming up at £167 + £15 postage  :D    Split from a set and unboxed though.

That's probably around the right price these days, the full set it comes from is something like £387 from Jadlam in the UK (I think they price things very high though).

Yes that's correct, it's from the bahn model on eBay German

I message them and they said they would remove the chips and still send them to me and would accept my offer of £155 posted to the UK

So is it a good purchase ?

Jadlam models I have heard of them, do they have them in stock then ?

@Euston   you don't have to remove the chips to run on DC, though if you do the performance characteristics will better match your other non-DCC locos.

Ah so your offer was accepted. That's good.

Jadlam have been advertising a bit of Fleischmann on ebay recently, just keep an eye on their asking prices as they seem high to me.

@Ntpntpntp

Thanks for the info

But is it a good buy ?

Is there any difference in the model as it's split from a train set ?

They have already accepted my offer :-)

Many thanks

I think it's not too bad a price.  I've had mine since 1998 and it was a gift from Fleischmann UK for showing my layout at their event in Ashford International station  :D

Hopefully they will fit DC blanking plates in place of the chips?

@Hiawatha may have more details info as to whether the version in the set has any differences?

Also

It's hard to find new fleischmann stuff in the UK unless it's massively over priced

Is it possible to buy directly from Germany at more reasonable prices, if so are there any recommendations on who is a trusted reliable dealer ?

Thanks ntpntpntp

I will ask about blanking chips

And wow nice of fleischmann UK to gift you that for showing your layout, not only do they make excellent models, they seem like a nice company too

@railwaygun

Thanks for the information

I will have alook at the malcrosby eBay guy

And the other sellers you suggested

Though I have to be careful for the moment with funds as I spent a fair amount in last few days

Need to sell off more of my OO stuff now in order to fund more purchases

Many thanks

Yep, I've had stuff from all the above shops.

I agree malcrosby has some useful bargains from time to time on ebay.

For what its worth, C and M models do some European N.

I noticed they are doing the Arnold ICE 3 8 car set DCC for £268.

I have no connection with ICE except in a large Southern Comfort and Coke.

I think the price is okay. Good is that it is a current set from 2019 (which I didn’t know existed) and the ICE has the current livery. You will receive a power car and driving trailer coach, the BordRestaurant and a 1st-class coach.

The pantograph seems to be the same as on the standard release (there was a simpler one in the earlier ICE 2 starter sets 9381 and 9382), and also the printing of the red stripe is complete.
Seems that in this set there was not a simplified version included as before.

Unfortunately it seems that matching add-on coaches were not produced and those that will be needed date from 2004. I have just looked on ebay.de, and not a single ICE 2 add-on car is available now. :(

You don’t need a complete 8-car set to run but at least one or two 2nd-class coaches would be nice to have. If your 1st-class coach has the number 805 043-7 then you would need a 7491 (1-st class 805.3) and the three 2nd-class coaches 7494–7496 to complete the train.

@Hiawatha

Thanks for the information, that is good to know

I know this might not be prototypical, I was hoping to run the ice trains with 3-4 coaches purely down to the space I have to make a layout

It's a shame no coaches are available at the moment, possibly in the future some may appear on eBay second hand

Still I'm very happy I made the switch to continental, as I do now much prefer fleischmann over farish stuff

And there is huge potential and lots of inspiration modelling the continental side of things even in small spaces

Hi Euston,

Am ignorant of German trains as model France and Spain but while you're waiting for those in the know, is this it?...

Hope helps. If not I'll butt out.
