But the reality is that if people don't, even if for the most genuine reasons, then there's every chance that models won't come to fruition.

And this is the issue, rightly or wrongly people will draw comparisons with DJ Models - new starter, one OO Loco tooled, trying to get into the N Gauge market. I cannot see many handing money over until the model is on the shelf, but if they don't get the cash it won't go into production - so I fear both models may not see the light of day unless a shop steps in with the sharks.

I have a very simple view.

I don't smoke, I rarely drink, I don't do drugs, and I don't gamble.

Compared to all these wasteful draws on money, crowdfunding is very very low on the risk of loosing my money, and the odds of a projects success is way better than the National Lottery. 8)

....... and I do get a thrill when a model finally arrives. :bounce:

Hear hear!  :beers:

Full page KR ad in March Model Rail for King and Shark. Website not showing either model yet, but in his post on this topic, KR dis say expressions of interest would open in "early March". I await the opportunity to give my support.

Come on, guys, let's keep the discussion positive. I assume we all want KR to succeed, however pessimistic we might be about the chances.

The website link is now open for the EOI for the Shark.  At this stage, it's down to how interest there is for the model

Put my name down, but the form doesn't give you an option to say how many you are interested in.... I reckon that might help you gauge the true volume of interest.
Still planning a layout...

I'd like two, but I'm not entering my address and phone number on an expression of interest. Would an email suffice?

Hi Dave,
It creates a customer profile so that when you then order, half the details are already there.

Hi Jon,
Actually no, we need actual customer numbers not product numbers, it's more accurate.

I've put my name down for the Shark. I'd like two black ones when it comes to it...and maybe two olive ones....
That's the trouble with multiple modelling eras.

Unfortunately GT3 and the Fell dont do it for me, but if you ever wanted to do the LMS Twins or the Bullied 1Co-Co1 diesels, or the prototype (Class 41) Warship, or a decent Class 25/3...
...or a Lord Nelson, or an S-15, or an N-15 (Southern 4-6-0 types) then I'm hooked. Or even a proper (DCC with sound compatible) Class 44/45/46 Peak with the various different front ends...

Best of luck
Bob

Actually no, we need actual customer numbers not product numbers, it's more accurate.

I can see how that would be the case for something like GT3 or Fell where you only expect people to buy one, but not for something like a Shark brake van where hopefully people are going to buy several.

For example you could get say 500 people sign up and cancel the project as you would be completely unaware that each of those 500 people might buy 4 each.

Our experience is that you definitely need to know quantities of models as well as quantity of people.

Cheers Mike

Hi Dave,

I understand, but you need that info when I order. I'm not at that stage now and so do not want to provide that information at this stage. If it's a requirement then I can't express my interest other than to say here I'd be up for a pair.

Regards
Dave
