Another job to get done is some working yard lamps. I've decided to scratchbuild my own. I've made them out of brass tube & soldered some brass ladders to the tubing. Some brass wire bent to shape & soldered onto the posts on the tops. Wiring threaded through the tubing, LED's fitted & some scraps of plastic for the lamp heads, then some lamp lenses glued into place. I've made a couple of different types, some single lamps & some double ones.

They are far from perfect but hopefully they will look the part once they are painted up & in place on the layout.

Cheers, Stu

Some trees added around the layout. These are Woodland Scenics ones I salvaged from the Cridmore Yard layout & re-used them here

My home made station sign in place, I made this from some plasticard, painted & then lettering transfers added

Cheers, Stu

Iím really, really liking this Stu.
You have created a simply wonderful neglected, slightly run down feel and you have a marvellous eye for what should go where.
There are some lovely little details, none better than the pipe over the river just in front of the over bridge. It looks just so right.
And.......those yard lamps are amazing.
Really good work.
Cheers

Martin

If it looks right then it most probably is right.

Thank you all, hopefully it will cheer a few people up with some layout photos, seeing what is going on in real life for everybody at the moment.
A few more pics, some detail bits added, point levers made from squares of plasticard & some wire, painted & glued in place

Some pics of the river & various areas of the yard & colliery buildings

A bit more good progress made on my signal box. All painted & detailed inside although most of that won't be seen. An LED fitted inside the roof,

Roof glued in place & ready to go on the layout
