30' bulktainers from Revolution and C-Rail
« on: September 12, 2019, 02:09:23 PM »
Hello all,

The latest collaboration between Revolution Trains and C-Rail is the 30' bulk container.

Five versions are being offered in UBS, Interbulk, IFF, Bulkhaul and Bertschi colours.

They are used on various granular products including plastic pellets for injection moulding and grain, and are ideal loads for the Revolution KFA containers in production now.

The models are in the country now and will be on sale at TINGS.

For more information see the Revolution news pages.

cheers

Ben A.

Didn't see that one coming! Will have to pop by on Saturday and grab a couple.

Hi Ben,

Too true I must have used buckets of micro sol and set trying - not too bad in the end just want a waft of grime/rust and a matt varnish to tone down.

These are ones I did some time ago with various degrees of success.
One or two are weathered.

Er ... not really sure what you mean?
Are you asking how I got the decals to sit in the ribs?

Basically I used Microsol and microset. Make sure the paint has a gloss finish. Use which ever one of sol and set it is you first, the bottles explain it succinctly. And then leave it to dry ! This is the hardest step because you have to walk away and play with kids or some other other such chore. As it dries, it dries around the profile of the ribs. The temptation is to try and get it to do it while you watch - it doesnt work like that - magic decal fairies get to work shovelling the tranfer into any crevice available.
Hope this helps

Do they still run? I recall seeing IFF and UBC ones in the 90s, but not so much in recent years.

If so, Which are best for present day?

Theres loads of Interbulk ones round here which I think might be rebranded UBC ones, certainly the same colour scheme. I still see plenty of UBC and occasional IBC ones. The IFF ones are very rare now. They can be seen in some yards however.
They closed the Wilton Freightliner terminal about 3 years ago I think which is where there were often rakes put together containing 30 footers. Since those trains headed south through Northallerton and back again, I made my train to run on the layout. Bulkhaul tanktainers were often seen in the same rakes as well as 40 and 45 foot containers.
