Steam power !!!
« on: July 18, 2019, 11:20:48 PM »
I may, or may not, have mentioned this before, every third Thursday in the summer there is a classic car and bike meet on the village green of our neighbouring village, Whichford.

This evening was the TT. As most months I trundled down to see what would appear....

A brace of Stanley steamcars. Paraffin powered with a boiler under the 'bonnet'. The left one is a 1908, whilst the right is 1911. Bizarrely, there was a third one turned up a little later, totally unconnected to the other two!

This is more my style though...

Big block 70's Chevy, 454ci block putting out 450bhp !!!

A couple of other pics to tickle your fancy!

Love the Frogeye - takes me back to halcyon days in the '90s. I really like the non-elitist casual definition of 'classic'. To me the Landie Ambulance is a classic, but no doubt plenty would say not. It looks like a really nice chill evening. :beers:
“We are indebted to those soldiers who served with courage and distinction to bring peace to Northern Ireland,” UK Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said. “The welfare of our former service personnel is of the utmost importance.”

The old coach was immaculate.

This whole event is very relaxed. You'll get £250k Ferrari, next to a Clan kit car etc. People just roll up, park up, get a beer and wander.

Thanks for that. Some really nice vehicles on show.
Good too see a VW panel van in the middle there on the last photo.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

That wasn't the only one. Another was a split screen in dark blue and cream with some huge rims. It was lowered, but when it got to the entrance of the green, the lowest part of the grass verge, it raised up a few inches! Very cool! Sorry I didn't get a snap of that one.

My brother had a Clan Crusader at one time. He didn’t build it though. It looked great, but was incredibly unreliable. He knew all the recovery drivers in a 50 mile radius. The last straw was when it caught fire just after he came off the M6. He was unhurt, but the car was a write off. Apparently a short in the electrics was the cause.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.
